Locating Rompopolo in Monster Hunter Wilds

Rompopolo is exclusive to the Basin area, a common enemy typically found on the same layer as Azuz village but also in the depths. The first encounter occurs during Chapter 2 of the campaign, after which Rompopolo remains a constant presence throughout the game.

To avoid aimless wandering, players can engage Rompopolo directly by selecting the "Oilbasin Blast" Optional Quest available after the initial encounter.

Strategies for Defeating Rompopolo

Resembling a plague doctor, Rompopolo's combat style is reminiscent of a mosquito, using its beak and tail for attacks. Before venturing into the Oilwell Basin, ensure you carry Herbal Medicine and Antidotes to counteract its AOE poison attacks and the hindering black oil in its habitat.

Movement is key in Rompopolo battles due to the need to evade poison and explosions. Fighting in tar-filled areas adds to the challenge. Rompopolo's Weak Roar can also stun you momentarily.

Focus on targeting the tail, back, and head. Severing the tail reduces toxic attacks and yields a Poison Sac. Breaking the head increases damage to the monster's tongue and can yield a Rompopolo Beak. Watch for inflating sacs on its head and back, signaling impending poison attacks, and prepare to strike or dodge.

Water attacks are effective against Rompopolo. Flash Pods and Paralysis-based weapons can blind and immobilize it temporarily.

Rompopolo Drops

Defeating Rompopolo guarantees a Rompopolo Certificate. The Rompopolo Hide is a common drop, often obtained from breaking the back. Other drops include Rompopolo Beak (from the head), Rompopolo Claws (from forearms), Poison Sac (from the tail), and the somewhat rare Spotted Poison Hide.

Crafting Rompopolo equipment, such as the Rompopolo Vambraces, requires a Poison Sac. For a full set, gather three Spotted Poison Hides for the Rompopolo Mail, Rompopolo Coil, and Vambraces. The coil also requires Dragonite Ore, obtainable from Basin mining spots.
