In Monster Hunter Wilds, players can encounter and battle a Blangonga even before the Chapter 4 campaign. If you're exploring the world post-Chapter 3, encountering this beast is highly probable, as it is a prevalent adversary in certain areas.

Locating Blangonga in Monster Hunter Wilds

During the Chapter 4 quests, players will face Blangonga through both mainline and optional side quests from Alma. However, encountering and defeating Blangonga prior to these quests is advantageous, particularly for obtaining the War Cry set bonus armor. This armor set enhances attack through the Agitator skill when an opponent is enraged, and the Counterstrike skill boosts attack power post-assault. Thus, completing and equipping this set is beneficial while awaiting more formidable foes.

Blangonga can be found exclusively in the Cliffs, specifically in areas 7 and 10, predominantly at mid or lower levels. Defeating a Blangonga once unlocks an Optional Quest tied to it at the Quest Counter. Additionally, Blangonga may appear at Wounded Hollow, a location typical for endgame battles.

Strategies for Defeating Blangonga

Blangonga, while similar to Congalala, is less troublesome. Its primary attacks include smacking and swiping with its front paws and rearing up on its hind legs to execute a charge slam. Unique to Blangonga are its abilities to lift and throw rocks and to inflict Frostblight or Iceblight through an icy breath attack. Both the boulder throw and icy blast are highly telegraphed, making them easy to evade.

The optimal attack points on Blangonga are its head and torso, with the head being the most vulnerable and breakable. Rear and tail attacks are also effective and often occur naturally as you dodge its attacks. Utilizing Flash Pods, Pitfall Traps, and Shock Traps, along with Fire attacks, is highly effective. Blangonga is susceptible to all status effects except Ice and Dragon attacks, which it resists. Sonic Bombs are also ineffective.

Accompanied by smaller Blango apes, Blangonga typically has two or three Blango present at the hunt's initiation. As the battle progresses and locations change, more Blango may appear, providing additional resources like Colossal Bones. Occasionally, a second Blangonga may appear if the hunt extends past the initial location change. With Rarity 6 equipment and a weapon with over 500 damage, defeating Blangonga quickly becomes manageable.

Blangonga Drops

Blangonga yields minimal materials, simplifying the process of obtaining all necessary components for its equipment. This is advantageous as the Blangonga armor set serves as an effective temporary solution while awaiting more powerful armor. Defeating Blangonga guarantees a Blangonga Certificate, with a rare Blangonga Whisker commonly obtained through carving. The Blangonga Tail, Fang+, and Pelt+ are frequent drops.

Forging the Blango Vambraces and Blango Coil presents a challenge. The vambraces require a certificate, five Pelt+ parts, three tails, and a Beast Gem, while the coil necessitates a certificate, five Fang+ parts, two whiskers, and three Freezer Sacs.
