In the Monster Hunter series, Vespoids are unique characters as small monsters that provide a full equipment set. Both Low Rank and High Rank Vespoids drop different materials. Fortunately, obtaining the rarer materials such as the Vespoid Carapace, Innerwing, Shell, and Wing in Monster Hunter Wilds has become more straightforward.

Acquiring Vespoid Shell and Wing in Monster Hunter Wilds

Historically, obtaining specific Vespoid materials required defeating them with particular weapons due to their delicate nature. Heavy weapons like Great Swords, Gunlances, or Hammers often obliterated the Vespoids, resulting in fewer drops. Instead, lighter weapons, Slinger ammo, or specific elements were preferred.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, while obtaining Vespoid Shells and Wings with heavier weapons can still be challenging, it is considerably easier than before. Completing the Optional Quest "Vespoid Capriccio," which appears after initially defeating a Vespoid, increases your chances of acquiring these drops. Although not guaranteed from Low Rank Vespoids, persistence and defeating numerous Vespoids will eventually yield the desired materials.

Vespoids can be found in the Forest, Basin, Cliffs, and Wyveria, with the Forest and Basin being the most favorable locations. Alongside the shell and wing, these monsters may also drop Honey and Monster Fluid.

Acquiring Vespoid Carapace and Innerwing in Monster Hunter Wilds

To obtain Vespoid Carapace and Innerwing, players must progress to Chapter 4 of the campaign, marking the transition to a more freeform gameplay experience. High Rank armor unlocks High Rank Vespoid hunts, during which these materials can be obtained.

High Rank Vespoid materials are no longer tied to specific weapon types but remain generally rare. Vespoid Carapace replaces the Shell, and Innerwing replaces the Wing. Honey continues to be a drop, with Monster Broth rounding out the list of possible items.

Evaluating Vespoid Equipment in Monster Hunter Wilds

Despite the availability of Vespoid equipment, it is not particularly valuable in terms of defense for both Low and High Rank armor pieces. While some skills like Ambush, Evade Window, and Paralysis Resistance are present, superior skills are found in other monsters' sets. The Neoferon Alert Group Skill, granted by equipping multiple Vespoid pieces, offers limited benefits due to the abundance of Honey in the wild. Consequently, pursuing this set is primarily for cosmetic reasons.
