How to Sign Up for the BlueSky Social Media Platform

Here is a step-by-step guide to becoming a member of the BlueSky social app.

Open the bsky.app website and click on either "Log In" or "Sign Up".

Since we are going to create an account, click on "Sign up". Fill in your information: date of birth, email address, password, hosting provider-just use the default. Click on Next when you're done.

Click Next after you've put in the user handle and it has been accepted. Please confirm your humanity to proceed.

Click Continue after you've selected your profile photo and interests. When you're ready, finish what you're starting. In this way, your BlueSky social profile will be created.

Making a post on BlueSky is actually rather easy. One option is to select "New Post."

The BlueSky social app: a handy guide

Like any other social networking platform, BlueSky lets you browse your feed, search for users, and follow their postings. Once you've searched for and followed a posting, your feed will show recommendations of similar feeds; you can follow or unfollow these suggestions at your discretion. You can find fresh and engaging posts by scrolling down the Feeds page.

Another way to establish a group of users is by using the Lists tab. Click the New button after adding users and a description to save it. You can also enable them to choose posts for the group so that useful collaboration can be made in the group.

My Sky feed isn't working. What gives?

Once you have discovered some feeds of interest, you can start following the individuals or groups by clicking Feed tab. But there is a third-party service called Skyfeed that you can use. Just click the Feed Builder after logging into your Bluesky account on Skyfeed.app. From there, you can create a custom feed in Bluesky. In order to create a new feed, click the option, set the parameters (like post kinds, dates, and keywords), and apply filters to narrow the results. Before sharing your feed, make sure to name it and let others know where to find it. If you want, you can even "pin" it to your homepage.

How do I delete my Bluesky account?

It is not currently possible to make your Bluesky account private. The only alternative we have right now is blocking accounts one by one, which is a lot of extra work and does not protect your account as it would if it were kept private.

How do I edit the Bluesky handle?

You can manually Bluesky by updating your account settings. To do this, either head to Settings on the desktop website or to the Settings menu in the app using the hamburger icon. Tap Account > Handle now. Where it says to enter the handle, tap "I have my own domain" and enter the fields with your details if you're the proud owner of your own domain.

How can I hide Bluesky likes?

There is no default setting for concealing the number of likes on your posts in Bluesky as of yet. However, you could restrict access to your account if you feel so. Settings > Moderation can give you more details about this restriction. You can adjust various privacy settings for your profile there.
