You can probably guess how to get fox fur: by hunting foxes. Being a rare resource, fox fur doesn't always drop on the first successful hunt, or even the second. You'll have to find, chase, and kill foxes multiple times to gather what you need.

First, you need to find foxes. Unlike robots, animal locations aren't marked on the map. Foxes can be found in wooded areas, and you can try searching in the eastern region near the Mother's Crown camp.

At the location, open your Focus to identify foxes. This will tag them so you can easily track down any that don't disappear into the grass. Finally, you can pull out your bow and arrow and hunt to your heart's content.

Precision arrows seem to be a bit more effective at getting long-range shots, but not necessarily.

Why You Need the Fox Appearance in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
