After completing the Goku vs Vegeta battle in the Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO Goku Saga, you'll be guided to the next main quest: Vegeta's Secret Maneuver. This battle will see the conclusion of Goku and Vegeta's first encounter by having you, as Goku, defeat Vegeta after he transforms into a Great Ape. This iconic Dragon Ball Z battle may be harder than it looks.

After hearing Vegeta's chilling threat, it's time to defeat his Great Ape form. Some mechanics may seem familiar if you've played the previous Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi games. The main one is that you can't use Rush-based Super attacks on giant enemies, including Great Ape Vegeta. This means that you should avoid using your Kaio-ken attack at all costs.

The second thing you should consider is that while you can hit Vegeta, you can't make him stagger with most of your attacks. To make him stagger, you need to fill your Sparking! gauge to the max and launch a barrage of attacks at him. Great Ape Vegeta also has more attack and defense than Goku, so taking too many hits in a row can mean a quick defeat.

• Vegeta will use his super attacks quite often. Get him to use them, dodge, and immediately counterattack with a Kamehameha.
• If you're craving something spicy, you can collide your Kamehameha with Vegeta's Super attack and master it. 
• This will do massive damage, but can backfire if you miss.

Go into Sparking! mode as often as you can when you see an opportunity and knock Vegeta down with a flurry of attacks. This leaves him completely open to another Kamehameha.

The battle with Great Ape Vegeta is the game's first real hurdle in its story mode. It may take a few tries, but with these tips, you should be able to make it to the end of the Saiyan Saga.
