This error occurs when your NVIDIA graphics card powers down and flashes an error message that says, "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems." Windows would usually report such an error due to a communicating problem with the graphics card. Normally, problems are with the hardware or software. 

Error Code 43 from Nvidia

This normally indicates a problem with a driver, which is usually an old, corrupted, or incorrect driver for your hardware. Other less likely culprits could be faulty hardware, an error within the power supply, or incorrect BIOS settings. Here are a few ways to fix this error.

1. Run a Batch File

The provided batch file executes and solves this issue by modifying system settings that influence the way Windows perceives the GPU. It changes some registry entries and settings to ensure that the external GPU is properly recognized and functions correctly.  

You can download the batch file from here.

Right-click the downloaded file and extract to nvidia-error43-fixer_113. Note: Extract files using WinRar.

Launch the folder where the files were extracted. 

Right-click on the nvidia-error43-fixer and click Run as Administrator. 

When you're done, close the terminal and see if the issue persists.

2. Reinstall NVIDIA Drivers

Repairing Error Code 43 will require you to reinstall the NVIDIA drivers in order to get your GPU to properly talk with your OS again. The problem might be because of the system's wrong assessment of the GPU capabilities, which might be because of corrupted or outdated drivers. It is highly recommended that any vestiges of the old drivers are deleted by a utility such as DDU in order not to have some kind of problems with the new installation. Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and run it, ensuring it completely removes the graphics driver.

On the Windows settings panel, click on Troubleshoot, followed by Advanced settings, and lastly Startup Settings.

Click the Restart button at the bottom right of your screen to select Safe Mode upon booting. Computer Restart 

When you have downloaded it, in your downloads folder, right-click the zip folder and choose Extract to [Guru3D.com]. For this, you need WinRar.Decrypt the DDU Archive File 

Double-click the extracted folder to run DDUv18.0.4.9. 

Pop-up window opens; click on Extract.Application to extract DDUs

Run the DDU application from the extracted folder.  

Select the type of device you are using, followed by selecting the GPU manufacturer. 

To complete the uninstallation process, click Clean & Restart.Ease in Removing the Graphics Card Driver 

2.2 Install The Graphics Drivers 

To download the latest available graphics driver for your GPU, visit the website of the manufacturer of your GPU.

Fill in the information about your graphics card and click Search. How to Locate Updated Graphics Drivers  

Click the Download button to download the driver. How to Install the Graphics Driver  

Launch the installer and follow the prompts that appear on the screen.

Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.

In the device management, check whether the problem is resolved.

3. Check if the Nvidia Card is Genuine or Not

If it still doesn't work, make sure that your Nvidia card is not fake. If it's not genuine, this problem will never be solved until you replace it with a new, real card. Download GPU-Z-an application which will give you all the information you need about your video card-and check its status. If your card is counterfeit, then GPU-Z will display a yellow warning with "[FAKE]" before the model name.

Get GPU-Z to check whether the graphics card is fake.  

Run this installer and follow the prompt to install it.Installation of GPU-Z 

Start GPU-Z and confirm your graphic card authenticity by checking the information details.

4. Disable Automatic Driver Updates from Windows

Keep windows automatic updates off to save your system from different driver-related problems which result in Error Code 43. Installation of very old drivers can conflict with the Windows operating system. While disabling the windows update in Local Group Policy Editor, be very careful not to include any of the crucial updates. Check and install the latest versions of the drivers regularly.

The windows home edition needs the installation of Group Policy Editor to be used. 

To open the Local Group Policy Editor, Press Windows + R and then write gpedit.msc, press Enter.

In the list of Windows Components on the computer configuration menu of Administrative Templates, click on Windows Update.

In Windows 11 expanded version click on Windows Update then click on Manage updates offered from Windows Updates.

Select the option which says Windows Update does not contain drivers.Go to the driver's preferences. 

To enable it, checkmark the option and click the Apply button.

Disable Windows Updates From Installing Drivers 

Do the same as above in order to reinstall the drivers.

5. BIOS Update

Incompatible hardware, such as an NVIDIA graphics card, may be the result of too old firmware for your system. By updating the BIOS, you will increase your motherboard's ability to detect and handle the attached devices, like your GPU. 

6. Run SFC and DISM Commands

Some of the system files may have been corrupted or missing. Running SFC and DISM commands is among the best methods for resolving any issue. In case the operating system has any corrupt files, these commands will scan and repair them. SFC is focused on fixing corrupted files directly; DISM checks that the Windows image is in good shape.

Search the Start Menu for "Command Prompt".

Hit Enter after each of the following commands: Repairing Corrupted Files—sfc /scannowDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image restorehealth 

Check if Device Manager still reflects Error Code 43.

7. System Restore

If they do not work, you should restore the system. This method will bring your system to an earlier point in time before the error ever happened without affecting your personal documents or files and will revert changes or updates on your drivers. 

The restore settings can be opened using Windows + R, typing rstrui, and pressing Enter. Check the System Restore Configuration

Click Next after selecting the restoration point. Selecting the Restoration Point 

Click Finish to initiate the restoration. Click to Continue: Finish.

8. VIRTU MVP Application Uninstall. (if installed)

The VIRTU MVP Application helps in optimizing your PCs for gaming by helping to improve response times, video processing, and media playback. However, this software isn't supported by Nvidia, hence you are able to see Error Code 43. Probably, removal of the program might fix the problem. 

First, start with Windows + R. Then, in the pop-up box, type in appwiz.cpl and press Enter. Command Insert

Once you've located the VIRTU MVP app, right click on it.

From the list of options available, select "uninstall".Insert Command
