How to defeat Lych in BTD6

The five bosses in Bloons Tower Defense 6 are the embodiment of Monkey toughness. Perhaps the most hated boss in that group would be the Gravelord Lych, a huge primordial undead MOAB with strong regeneration. Follow this guide to defeat Lych.

With Lych, many popular boss methods actually work against you, so he can be tough for the unprepared. First off, Lych uses the buffs that your monkeys get to heal itself. While Lych is visible, you no longer will be able to use Monkey classes such as Alchemists or Engineers. You can increase Lych's healing % by selling these towers while he's active.

The key gimmick of Lych is bringing back Bloons of the MOAB class. When a skull appears on Lych's health bar, its physical form becomes immune to damage, while its ethereal spirit gets banished. Also, more powerful MOABs are back. You need to get rid of his soul and the MOABs before you can cause further damage to Lych. A revived MOAB will not procreate.

Now that you have a good idea of what the Gravelord is, you can start getting ready for him.

Level 40, tier one

You are allowed to get ready for 39 turns before embarking on tier one for the very first time. There is one effective strategy which applies to all of the maps: farming. In boss fights, the most useful hero is Benjamin.

Focus on balancing your early defenses while rushing out of four or more banana farms as soon as possible. A usual formation would be an Engineer or two Dart Monkeys following up with a 1-3-0 Druid. The team for maximum income Engineers would be a 0-2-4 Bloon Trap Engineer and a 1-0-4 Rubber to Gold Alchemist.

You can pick up either a 0-3-0 Cleaning Foam Engineer or a 0-2-0 Monkey Village for early Camo detection. As you are doing that, upgrade your farms to 2-0-3 Marketplace status by first upgrading to 2-0-0 Greater Production status. It is a good idea to have at least four Marketplaces by round 35.

Last but not least, if there is any water on the map then plant a 0-0-4 Favored Trades Buccaneer near your shops to increase their resale value. Wait until turn 39 is over.

Generic Ch

You'll want to set up your boss defenses before round 40. The damage from a tier one boss can be sustained by a 1-0-4 Sticky Bomb Ninja and the reanimated MOABs can be popped by a few 0-3-0 MOAB Mauler Bomb Shooters. You should have enough income from round 39 to afford the upgrades, selling a few Marketplaces will help pay for them.
Supreme Lych

Build at least five more Marketplaces for a long time to ensure you'll have enough cash on hand, since Elite Lych spawns with nearly double the health of Normal Lych.

In tier one, your main source of popping power should come from a 2-0-5 Elite Defender Sniper. For attacking more quickly and better camo detection, add in a 3-2-0 Berserker Brew Alchemist and a 0-2-2 Monkey Village to buff it. Protection from extrabloons shouldn't be an issue coming from a 1-4-0 Jungle's Bounty Druid.
Second tier (Round 1960)

Now that tier one has popped, it's time to go back to farming tier two. Stop wasting more time selling your defenses and replacing your Marketplaces. If the map has water in it, you can further enhance your cash generation by placing up to 20 0-0-3 Merchantmen Buccaneers. Send one of them to a 0-0-5 Trade Empire and power up your boats with 10 0-2-4 Central Market Banana Farms.

Take time and invest in getting 10-15 Marketplaces and upgrading as many to 2-0-4 Central Markets as possible by round 59 if there is no water on the map.

For defenses, a 3-2-0 Alchemist can do the job of buffing the 0-2-4 Sniper. Or an Alchemist can buff two 0-3-2 Dragon's Breath Wizards.

For general defence, try to upgrade your druid to 1-5-0 Spirit of the Forest before round 60. Then follow up with a 4-2-0 Alchemist. That should be enough for Lych to either have a 1-5-0 M.A.D. Dartling Gunner or a 1-0-5 Master Bomber Ninja.
Elite

Round off Elite Lych's damage by setting all default defenses and equipping one 5-2-0 Cripple MOAB Sniper. Before the reanimations get away, equip one 1-5-0 M.A.D. and shoot them down.

Season three, Game 80

With the money gained from selling the defenses, you can restock Farms and Boats. As protection, keep one Spirit of the Forest with a 4-2-0 Stronger Stimulant Alchemist. Add the 5-2-0 Banana Central to the Central Markets for max income, along with adding a 0-2-5 Monkey Wall Street. To speed up the spawn time of banana crates in the Banana Central, add a 0-4-0 Overclock Engineer.

Until round 79, start filling your game with an infinite amount of 4-2-0 Banana Research Facility Farms. Sell all of your engineers and alchemists before the boss comes.
Normal

If you have two Dartling Gunners, beating Normal Lych will be easy. After you get one to a 1-5-0 M.A.D. and the other to a 5-2-0 Ray of Doom, buff them with a 4-2-0 Alchemist and a 2-3-0 Monkey Village.

If you have the money to waste, Dart Monkey Paragons are another option. If you sacrifice three tier five Dart Monkeys, one on each upgrading path, Grade One Paragons can be obtained. Elite

During Elite Lych, a Dart Paragon is pretty much required for defense. Sacrifice 25 0-2-2 Dart Monkeys to ensure the Paragon is at least Degree 20 and give a nice boost to the power of the Paragon. The run is going to be smooth this way.
Round 100 is the fourth tier.

Restock all of your sold Farms while keeping your Dart Paragon from the previous run for protection. Replace your Engineer with a 0-5-0 Ultraboost to level up your Banana Central to 10 stacks and generate a lot of crates per round. Sell your Engineers and Alchemists when you have reached round 99 so you can restock and position your defenses.

Normal

For tier four, if you still happen to have an old Dart Paragon in the stables, replace your current one with a level 20 paragon. With this at your side, you should be able to solo the boss.

Elite

Adding to the 25 sacrifices, try investing another 500,000 cash to upgrade your Dart Paragon to a Degree 30–40 for Elite Lych. To kill an Elite Lych fast, you should also make a Degree one Boomerang Monkey Paragon for creating a Dart Paragon with a better pierce and damage.

Level five (120th Round)

This is not significant. Continue the defenses you established in previous rounds and continue making a fortune each round through round 119.

You want to upgrade your Buccaneers to a Paragon when your Trade Empire is running smoothly. Sell your farms and then invest all of your gold into the highest tier Navarch of the Sea. If your Buccaneers are out of space, surround a 5-0-2 Lord of the Abyss Mermonkey with three of them.

If your map doesn't have enough water for Buccaneers, you can choose any other Paragon. Be sure it is the highest possible level.

Elite

Upgrading to Elite Lych: You use your lower-level Paragons, presumably for some sort of in-game trade-in, to get newer ones with a degree of 30 or above. This will take two Degree 30 Paragons to make the Lych disappear, then take the rest of the money and put it into creating the highest degree Buccaneer Paragon conceivable.

If you can't make the Buccaneer Paragon, your next best option would be the Monkey Ace Paragon, Goliath Doomship.
