How To Get To Volcano Manor in Elden Ring

In the vast open world of Elden Ring, literally scores of NPCs, demanding bosses, and secret places abound. One such place is Volcano Manor-a realm of fire and death-but with interesting enemies and unique NPCs. However, the way to Volcano Manor is not quite linear, with multiple branching paths leading to its doors. The direction taken and action afterward are totally left to the player's discretion.

To help all those attempting the various Elden Ring questlines associated with Volcano Manor, this guide explains how to get to it via all three possible paths. Some have learned that one of these contains a neat trick for shaving precious minutes off their trip. After all, Volcano Manor contains a Shardbearer, several NPC questlines, boss battles with unique rewards, and multiple items of value. It's well worth visiting, even considering how hard it is to access. Let's take a look at the various ways one can reach Volcano Manor and see just why it is so popular.

Walking To Volcano Manor

Possible, But Not Advised

You can indeed walk your way to Volcano Manor, but this from starting zone in Elden Ring is highly exhausting. You'll have to head over to Mt. Gelmir first. This region is situated very far north beyond Liurnia of the Lakes and Altus Plateau.

These will be thick with formidable foes that can bring a too-under-leveled Tarnished into defeat in a relatively short amount of time. It is highly recommended to be at least level 50 before trying the dangers of this region.

How to Begin The Ascent

Erdtree Gazing Hill to Base of Mt. Gelmir

To start the Volcano Manor quest, you will want to get yourself to the base of Mt. Gelmir. From Erdtree Gazing Hill Site of Grace in Altus Plateau, follow a hillside with a statue atop it in the distance.

Mount Torrent, and ride in the direction of said statue, then turn left and make your way through Wyndham Ruins, being sure not to wake up the boss of Tibia Mariner. You'll eventually come across a cave-like area that shelters the Seethewater River Site of Grace. From there, head north to start making your way up Mt. Gelmir.

How To Reach Fallingstar Beast & The Volcano Manor Beyond It

Your climb up Mt. Gelmir is for the most part a matter of heading North and following paths that go uphill-usually on ladders. You will eventually reach a series of tall rock faces with many long ladders apiece that lead further up the mountain.

As you progress, soon Volcano Manor will be visible far out in front of you. You know you're getting close when you can see a REALLY long rope bridge across a huge chasm. On the other side at this position is the Ninth Mt. Gelmir Campsite Site of Grace and ladder as well as a nearby Spiritspring for Torrent.

Careful on this peak; both the ladder and Spiritspring run the risk of accidentally engaging you with the Fully-Grown Fallingstar Beast in this boss fight. So, in order not to startle the beast, take the Spiritspring up and stick right, landing on the edge of the arena. Then carefully work your way around right. Once atop, and having skipped or killed the Fallingstar Beast, you'll want to look to the right side of the boss room for a large rock jutting out of the wall. Hop off this rock and commence the final walk up to Volcano Manor.

Fast Travel To Volcano Manor

Through The Abductor Virgin

While one is able to make their way up Mt. Gelmir by foot or horseback, there's a far quicker means of reaching Volcano Manor in the form of a quick teleportation that's available early into the game. This will become available as soon as access to Raya Lucaria Academy unlocks.

Make your way through Raya Lucaria Academy up to the Church of the Cuckoo Site of Grace. From here, exit outside to a dangerous graveyard with a big rotating 'wheel' that works as an elevator to the upper area-which ultimately leads to the Debate Parlor.

Step onto one of the upward-moving pads on the 'elevator' and quickly jump onto the down-moving pads before they crest the top and flip over. Ride the platform all the way to the bottom as it starts to move up in the other direction; this will take you down into a cavernous underground crystal area.

Find the Abductor Virgin, a huge, rolling Iron Maiden armed with spinning saws. Attack the Abductor Virgin until it uses a grab attack, opening its doors and extending its inner arms. Let this attack be the final one that 'kills' you. Instead of respawning at a previous Site of Grace, you'll awaken in the basement of Volcano Manor.

To leave Manor, just go up all the way to a small cave arena and fight the boss there, Twin Virgin Abductors. Or Teleport out to any previous Sites of Grace; or you need to have reached a Site of Grace within Volcano Manor, or do the Abductor Virgin trick again.

Interestingly, there are two other ways to teleport into Volcano Manor. The last of these methods requires the least amount of fighting and is the easiest. For this route, find Rya to the north of the Laskyar Ruins in Liurnia of the Lakes. She is easily found next to the Birdseye Telescope inside a gazebo.

Speak with Rya, and she will say her necklace was stolen. You can reply you will try to retrieve it. Blackguard Big Boggart The thief in a crouch is just outside the Boilprawn Shack, northwest of where Rya was standing. Approach him and initiate a dialog. Ask him about the necklace and you accept the reward of 1000 Runes. Do not take the aggressive option, that is killing him. You can then recover the necklace and be able to return it to Rya.

Returning the Necklace & Teleporting to Volcano Manor

Reward her with the necklace, and she'll thank you and introduce herself, stating she works for Lady Tanith in Volcano Manor. Once she's said everything she can say, continue on until you find your way to Atlus Plateau via the Grand Lift of Dectus. When you've reached the top of the plateau, Rya can be found standing near a railing on the left. Speaking with her will grant you access to the teleport option directly to Tanith's Chambers in Volcano Manor.

Then, following the steps here will direct you to a field that leads to Volcano Manor in Elden Ring.
