ambitious all guys are 00:11 designed to have the least practical 00:13 shape or the tasks that we make them do 00:16 oh god they have like those round shapes 00:18 they have those little legs they are 00:21 struggling a little bit when starting 00:28 out with character design before I even 00:30 start drawing I usually like some writes 00:32 and notes even if I've just got a 00:34 sentence to run on at least I know I'm 00:36 making informed design decisions rather 00:38 than arbitrarily just trying to come up 00:40 with cool shapes the whole team meet 00:42 together we start sharing ideas about 00:45 how we visualize this character in the 00:47 game so we spend a lot of time but we 00:51 have to find as well so that's the 00:53 perfect moment to to tell everything you 00:56 have give your ideas you are free to say 00:59 one thing and through that process we 01:01 actually ended up finding a lot of 01:02 inspiration from a vinyl toy design by 01:06 our UI artist who's a huge collector of 01:09 vinyl toys we knew we'd hit the right 01:12 design when we'd hit that sweet spot of 01:14 the character feeling like you could 01:16 achieve the movement she wanted to make 01:18 but you didn't feel overly athletic so 01:21 when the concept artist has locked down 01:23 the character design he will then go on 01:26 to create a model sheet or turnaround 01:29 which means that it will create left and 01:32 right and back in front versions of that 01:35 2d character those shapes are then 01:38 translated into freed by 3d artists and 01:43 through that process we found out some 01:48 details that we couldn't find through 2d 01:50 concepts once the character has been 01:52 modeled by the 3d team that gets handed 01:54 over to the animators and we're 01:56 basically trying to figure out the vague 01:58 and range of motion and making sure the 02:01 proportions are working the skeleton of 02:03 a character before guy is actually 02:05 strangely close to ones that were made 02:10 for the minions in the minions movie is 02:12 we have do 02:14 super lower hips at all super crusty 02:16 bottom and so because when you see the 02:19 minions when they run they wiggle their 02:21 but pray a lot and before guys do the 02:24 same there but because a lot because of 02:27 harvest cretin is in this project is 02:30 it's been a challenge to overcome the 02:33 fact that it doesn't happen in place 02:35 expression so that's the reason we make 02:38 him with such a long arms and huge body 02:41 in order to use his body posture to make 02:44 him look sad or happy or Australian in 02:47 this game my favourite character 02:49 animation is the set snap animation this 02:53 is one of those animation we made for 02:56 when the character win so you have to 02:58 win smashing wolves and wrecking 03:18 balls and anything that does it harm and 03:21 we just will it to make it towards the 03:23 end you can choose between lots of top 03:28 and bottom costumes but you can also mix 03:30 in and you can change the pattern that's 03:33 on them you can change the colors of 03:35 that pattern and you can mix and match 03:37 or all of these different elements to 03:40 create your own and unique own guys it 03:42 does look like the full guy has fallen 03:44 into a theater wardrobe and has walked 03:47 up to the starting line wearing whatever 03:48 didn't fall off for me it's been kind of 03:51 returning back to when I was a kid maybe 03:53 like you know seven or eight years old 03:56 and just thinking up silly ideas like I 03:58 want to wear a banana costume or be a 04:02 pizza slice I've done frog sheep but 04:09 I've done recently a superhero and I've 04:13 done a Viking and a ninja 04:15 I really like the pigeon costume just 04:17 because the head looks ridiculous in 04:20 this game in this specific project my 04:22 favorite costume is the pineapple 04:25 costume I love pineapple so 04:27 when I when I saw this this costume I 04:29 thought as lovely I want to buy one of 04:31 these for me we thought about having 04:34 glowing parts of the costumes and one 04:37 day I had the time to do that and so I 04:40 mean it worked with the pirate variant 04:42 that has that like glowy hook and he has 04:45 that super cute little skull on his 04:47 heart my favorite costume is definitely 04:50 the toucan because it is kind of comical 04:54 it's a bird but it has these massive 04:57 teeth going all the way along the week 04:59 and I just think that's really funny 05:01 [Music] 05:15 so now that you know a little bit more 05:17 about the
