Bygones god rolls and best perks in Destiny 2

In the Revenant Episode, one of the returning legendaries in Destiny 2 is a pulse rifle. Boasting a reworked perk pool that fits nicely within the present sandbox, The Bygones are returning, as per the style.

"Bygones" is a pulse rifle with a Kinetic Adaptive Frame and 390 RPM. The re-issued version stands shoulder to shoulder with the latest seasonal weapons with its enhanced PvE and PvP perks like Kinetic Tremors and Keep Away.

For PvE, there are quite a few different perk combinations for Bygones. Depending on what you're looking for, you can either find Subsistence or Outlaw in the third column. While Subsistence is easier to turn on, Outlaw dramatically speeds up reload. If you are building around grenades there is also Demolitionist - a weapon that can be used to buff your capabilities.

These perks, when combined with Firefly and Kinetic Tremors, can increase the area of effect of the weapon. Firefly is more situational toward add-clear if you're on harder stuff like Grandmaster Nightfalls, while Kinetic Tremors is better utilized on tankier enemies. You won't use nearly as much of Kinetic Tremors compared to Firefly in the easier stuff. Lacking any real area-of-effect, Desperate Measures is still a respectable perk that raises the base damage of the weapon.

In PvP, Bygones leverages the same classic Keep Away and Headseeker rolls as the new Vantage Point seasonal pulse rifle. Zen Moment is another option that reduces recoil and flinch while you're dealing damage, and often works in tandem with Keep Away.

Other interesting PvP bonuses that increase aim assist. Lone Wolf and To the Pain-when three-on-three, in something like Trials of Osiris or Competitive, Lone Wolf would be a decent perk. When no allies are in range, it accelerates aim assist and as down sights.

The Destiny 2 Bygones Method

Unfortunately, you're going to have to play Gambit in order to obtain engrams and focus Bygones, because it's a Gambit weapon. Acquiring Gambit Engrams is as easy as completing matches and leveling up your Drifter reputation.

Unlike many of the weapons in Destiny 2, you can begin immediately focusing Bygones. Amass Gambit Engrams then head to Drifter, and under the tab labeled Focused Decoding, focus the weapon. Since you're able to roll weapons with just one engram, likely you won't have to play Gambit very often to get anything respectable.
