How To Beat Homo Fulquilo in Metaphor ReFantazio

As a metaphor, ReFantazio feels singular from the other big Atlus titles due to its many tweaks of gameplay. Playing on Hard mode amplifies the difficulty of all adversaries by adding an extra press turn icon that makes even the tiny bosses a real challenge.

Compared to the first boss, who was mostly an introduction to the Archetype system, Homo Fulquilo is the very first opponent that actually requires players to use their imaginations as a means of defeating him. The boss is tough, but it will be one's preparation that shall make or break one.

Metaphorical Road Map to Homo Fulquilo: ReFantazio

Those using the Warrior Archetype take very little of the boss's damage due to the fire resistance. Strohl had to have been a level 2 Mage to have learned Blizz to exploit the boss's weakness to ice. Buy all five Ice Chunks from the vendor outside of the boss's safe room; they will sell it for 270 Reeve apiece.

If you haven't unlocked it yet, and don't mind doing the grinding necessary, Heat Up on Warrior is a great asset to Protagonist and Grius. The buff works when two Warriors are part of your team. Like always, I don't think that you should have to use many healing items to complete this boss, but it's always a good idea to bring a few in, just in case. None of these Archetypes specialize in healing. Finally, make sure your MP is completely replenished before really whaling on the said monster.

Defeating Homo Fulquilo Metaphorically: ReFantazio

Have Strohl use Blizz during the first round of combat. Then, have the protagonist and Grius use one Ice Chunk each. All those attacks are gonna hit the weak point, so you'll get three more press turn icons and everybody gets to act again, so just think of that as a free cycle of damage. Then you got the protagonist and Grius using Diagonal Slash and Strohl using another Blizz. The boss on his first turn is going to use a strong charge, just targeting the front row. Use your second wave of attacks to push all to the back row to minimize the damage of your melee; on your second turn, however repeat the free turn of damage.

Given that, with its next attack, the boss will only be able to hit the front row, it finishes its turn without hitting anyone else. Now Strohl can continuously use Blizz every turn, Grius uses Diagonal Slash, and the protagonist uses healing items, and an attack if need be, for the rest of the battle. The two characters can swap positions if the protagonist's damage exceeds Grius's numbers.

Since only attack-all fire spells are used by the boss, your only concern would be Strohl taking damage and probably dying. Grius and the protagonist will also retaliate, and it'll take a while before they receive some form of damage. The boss should fall within several rounds of the said process.

If you follow these tips and adjust the strategy according to the situation, beating Homo Fulquilo will be no problem at all, and you'll keep going further in the game.
