Today in our article we will talk about Zappy's Shipwreck Mission in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom.

Some secret areas are available early in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, but the doors won't open until certain conditions are met. The phantom shipwreck might be there south of Seesyde Village before you ever get this side quest, for instance, but you can't get into it until you start The Zappy Shipwreck.

While it is possible to get The Zappy Shipwreck fairly early in Echoes of Wisdom, completing the scenerio is far easier after having gathered a number of decent fighting Echoes and brewing Electricity Proof potions or smoothies. This is due to the fact that the Barinade-a gigantic electric jellyfish-is the perpetrator of the Zappy Shipwreck's issues and can only be defeated with select Echoes or an upgraded Swordfighter form.

Ripples of Wisdom How to Locate the Zappy Shipwreck on the Quest

In Echoes of Wisdom, go to Seesyde Village. On the edge of the area with the entrance of the dock, there's an old dude chillin' on a boat. Approach the old dude to trigger The Zappy Shipwreck quest. To hear his story, use an Echo to hop onto the boat and talk with him.

Talking to him, he mentions there's currently a Zappy monster living in a shipwreck to the south, and he'd like someone Zippy to take care of it. Reply to his conversation with "I'm Zippy!" then head southwest to find the shipwreck. If you do, you'll know what's going on underneath.

How to Complete the Zappy Shipwreck Thrill

Find the ship and enter it to battle the jellyfish boss

The shipwreck can be found by traveling due south-west of Seesyde Village in open water. You will need to float onto the deck of the ship either with an Echo or trampoline. You can attach to the trapdoor on the top right-hand side of the ship, and pull it backwards to show a hatch that leads into the inside of the ship.

The first area is chock-full of crates and barrels, apparently without anything interesting. Still, removing some of the crates from the upper right corner of the room will reveal a door behind which you can reach one of the ship's flooded areas.

Although there are a lot of Tectites and Octoroks in this room, you can safely pass through it without defeating them. Look for a stairway on the left side of the room and head down it. You'll end up entering this underwater sidescrolling room if you enter this room and dive into the hole to the left.

Make plenty of stops along the way, lighting crystals and popping bubbles, as you swim left through this area. You can skip enemies in this area unless you haven't collected the Shocking Jelly and Tangler Echoes, in which case you can head to the upper left surface area.

You'll find the ship's bedrooms once you swim up. You can get through the small opening in the wooden wall at the upper bottom left of the room on the left-hand side of the chamber by using Water Blocks or another Echo that can push you up.

Passed through a gate into the next room, on a small wall above - theres a statue on the top right and a button on the top left. Jump into the water standing to the right side of the statue, locking on to it. Hop onto the platform to the right of the gate to send it into the air. Then, jump to your left to land it on the small wall with the button. Grab it and pull it across to the button. It will open the gate.

You can bind to the statue and swim up using water blocks to get to the switch faster. To reach the button, water blocks must be built on the side of the gate opposite of the button. Then, you want to bound to the statue and swim up the block, placing it on the button.

Move right in the following room to defeat or outrun the enemies. Then go up the staircase on top-right of the room and fight the boss, Barinade, of Zappy Shipwreck.

Defeat the Boss in Echoes of Wisdom with Jellyfish

Having two smoothies or potions handy will make short work with the multi-part fight with the boss, Barinade, by giving Electricity Proof and restoring Energy for Swordfighter Form, respectively.

Upon entering the boss area, you'll encounter a huge jellyfish monster surrounded by five others much smaller in size. The boss will periodically charge the superfluous jellyfish to deal electrical damage to anything that happens to touch them. Observe the boss' pattern to see which of the jellyfish aren't electrified and target only those until the largest one remains.

Once you've rid yourself of all the excess Jellyfish, use Swordfighter Form and strike the boss Barinade with direct attacks. Depending upon your level of Sword upgrade, this might only take a couple of hits to move on to the next phase.

Alternatively, the Ball-and-Chain Trooper can deal a tremendous amount of damage in a quick fashion with its flail. Be careful, though, because the electricity jellyfish that spawn will make short work of this Echo.

When the boss uses electricity and summons a total of eight little jellyfish, wait for its recovery animation and start running. Continue as previously described by drinking an Electricity Proof smoothie or potion and afterwards kill each of the non-electronized jellyfish one by one. When the Barinade boss is in view, re-activate Swordfighter Form, drink another Electricity Proof smoothie or potion, and slash away at it.

To give more length to the boss battle, the Barinade will keep calling down more small jellyfish, adding up to a total of eight on screen at a time. For most players, it will take three or even four phases of attack to take down this surprisingly hardy boss, but if your level in Swordfighter Form is high enough, you only have to hit and expose the Barinade a couple of times.

Reward for the Zappy Shipwreck Quest

You will be rewarded with a Heart Piece and a load of Rupees for beating the boss Barinade. immediately head back to Seesyde Village with that Heart Piece, so you can finally complete the Zappy Shipwreck quest. If Zelda goes back and talks again with the old man, he will reward her with a Fairy Bottle.

There is a slight difference in the mechanics of Fairy Bottles compared to the earlier Zelda games. When you have empty bottles in Echoes of Wisdom, fairies will jump into them without your having to do anything. If it reaches 0, a Fairy will automatically activate and fill Zelda's Heart meter.

And following the steps above, you should be able to successfully complete the Zappy Shipwreck Quest and get your well-deserved reward.
