Witchfire In, the Warden serves as an excellent example of a monster that looks intimidating but is actually rather simple to defeat. Overwhelming opponent design is part of the hunt in this rapid-paced shooter that amalgamates souls-like and rogue-lite aspects within a dark fantasy world.

The Warden takes the form of a grim reaper, flying above with an all-seeing light instead of a scythe. In-game, he is seen wandering as an enemy, peering into every nook and cranny in search of the Preyer-you-who dared approach the Witch with his lamp.

There's currently an old buddy-that is, a boss-for every map in Witchfire, and of those, the Warden isn't actually one of them. You just meet a different variety of monster on a harder version of level whatever, and that's him.

He shouldn't scare you. The Warden seems terrifying, but with a bit of preparation, you can take him down. You will never think twice about taking down this enemy, if you are of course ready to die, and lose some of your precious volatile witchfire crystals. Taking him down is as easy as this.

Where to Find the Warden

In Witchfire, the Warden can only be challenged along the Scarlet Coast and within Irongate Castle. Both maps will be available at Gnosis level 1 and Gnosis level 4, respectively. You should be aware, though, that Gnosis is an upgrade that's permanent.

An Illuminati-like eye icon always points out the Warden on your map, like in the image above. The Warden even takes the weather with him; you know that if you see the sky darkening and hear the rumble of thunder, the Warden is on his way to your position.

Witchfire: How to Beat the Warden

In Witchfire, the Warden uses a lantern to navigate the map in search of you. Every time the Warden finds you, he raises his hand to summon an army and then teleports away. Since every fight you have with him is very short because he reappears in other areas of the map after some time, you can only have a small window of time in which to beat him. Deal with his staunch followers and try to locate him on a map once more. Other than this disappearing and summoning act, the Warden does not have any other spells or assaults in Witchfire.

If you get spotted by the Warden, your Calamity meter fills up. Once full, the Witch summons an anomaly where you have a choice to either defeat the summoned calamity or head home via the portal.

Which Weapons Work Best Against Witchfire's Warden

The best way to defeat him, however, is shocking him and then following up with a weapon strong enough to deal as much damage as possible before he disappears. You can use the Frost Cone spell alongside the Vulture Demonic weapon during the fight with the Warden. Remember, some setup for an ambush is necessary. You are running across an open field toward the Warden's lantern in Witchfire. Find a nook or a vantage point and mark his position on the map. Run ahead. Just hold tight until the Warden finds you. Prepare to finish him off by jumping out of the way once he draws near.

For taking down the Warden, an upgraded Hangfire hand cannon, preferably an M2, is greatly helpful. If the Warden manages to summon his minions, then its explosive shells will inflict really high damage in a particular area on every reload. As evident from the gameplay footage below, clearing off Warden and his summons requires only two sections:

Another approach is to use long-range to remain unseen. Of course, if you are good at headshots, recommend upgrading at least Hypnosis or Hailstorm guns to M2. However, let me warn you, if you aren't careful, it just might backfire in the most spectacular way.

In Witchfire, the Warden only needs to meet with you once. Once you've managed to squeeze in a crucial shot, you have to slip back into cover and wait for him to divert his attention elsewhere before emerging for the next. Probably this would be the default approach for Witchfire beginners who still get familiar with the action-packed fighting features, but it may get tricky if you cannot view the Warden from your point of hiding.

Rewards

If you need to level up some of your Witchfire gear, then the Warden is a guaranteed source for Second Mysterium Incantations. You have literally hundreds of spells, magical objects, and weapons- okay, let's be frank, a ton of them.

It does take a lot of Gold to research-make M2 Incantations from the Workshop. It follows then that the most efficient use of your Gold is to farm the Warden in Witchfire so you can upgrade everything.

That means he might be able to come back later if you kill him right as he summons his minions. This is a bug in the game and there should be a patch for this in the near future. For now, take advantage of the glitch and farm the Second Mysterium Incantations whenever you like.
