Basic Information about Armies
An army is the cornerstone of your power in this game. Each character has their unique military force, which can be developed by you through a few ways of recruitment described in detail on our page of Recruiting and Upgrading Troops.
Your character's level-dependent Command skill sets the limit to the number of troops you can hire. Every troop unit itself has a certain maximum capacity, which you can extend by researching appropriate technologies. If you want to know more about expanding your army, please read the relevant FAQ entry.
Each of them has a different statistic, such as damage and attack power, and essences they are affiliated with. You can see their stats by hovering over their portraits or looking at the codex. The essences are especially important because they provide points in combat for whatever purpose.
Manage your army strategically by dividing troops into smaller, more agile groups. Just drag the unit to an open space in your army or onto another unit of the same type and a tab pops up, offering options to transfer all units or split them equally.
While this would limit the total amount of troops, its biggest advantage is doubled essence generation. The essence is based on unit type and not the number of the particular unit. This strategy will come in handy when finding oneself against a strong opponent where the latter can wipe out all or the majority of your troops on his first attack. You could give him a tough time because it will take long for him to destroy this smaller army, which is an attrition approach.
This may become a strategic sacrifice to achieve victory.
Some of the improvements in the rewritten text are underlined below:
• Clarity and Conciseness : The text is more succinct and to the point.
• Strategy Emphasized: Divided troops, according to this paragraph, can also serve as a strategic advantage.
• Explanation about Essence Generation: A clear explanation of how essence is generated has been provided.
• Addressing Opponent's Strength: It also pinpoints facing opponents who might be strong.
• Call to Action: The concluding sentence encourages the reader to consider this strategy.
I hope this revised version is more effective and informative!
Relocating troops
Armies can be shared and combined with other wielders or settlements. To do so, just interact between two armies and drag units from one trustee to the other. If you want to move your whole army at once, do so by using arrows at the bottom. Note that the trustees need to have at least one soldier at all times.
Recruiting troops is one of the strategic tactics by sending in a weaker wielder. They can travel through cities, other locations, recruit units and return it to the main character in order for him to deploy them outside. That enables the main character to focus on combat while the weaker wielder handles supply and recruitment."
Battles
Battles in the game are started when approaching an army of enemies, a wielder, or a city. You can approximate the level of challenge before entering combat with them so that you wouldn't have any superfluous losses. Never attack orange or red enemies. If you start the battle, then you can retreat; if you are attacked, this option is not available.
To speed up these battles, you can make use of the quick battle option that automates the whole process. However this option is to be made use of with care, as this option offers certain positive and negative attributes. Prior to the battle, a forecast of your enemy's likely army composition is shown in the corner of the screen.
The game introduces you to a battleground for deployment of your army. Make good use of the terrain, particularly hills, as the defensive and offensive points are obtained along with the range weapon effectiveness.
In battles, pay attention to the health and essence of both your wielder and your enemy. Use spells judiciously according to their power and how much essence you have. Remember, you gain passive essence at the start of the round and active from your units.
Think ahead of the moves, considering the initiative of the troops and the movement range. Attack those troops that haven't moved this round to drain the essence pool. If needed, use the end-of-turn button.
Note the skills on the troops since many are really helpful. Some of those can increase the strength of allies around or add to the attack power.
Defending Settlements
As discussed earlier, the mechanic of sharing an army applies to settlements as well. To activate this function, select a wielder, approach the village, and open the Defense tab. You will be able to transfer units to empty slots in the settlement or merge them with the wielder's army. The more sizeable the village is, the more considerable garrison it can have; the smaller village will hardly hold against enemy wielders even if you have built watchtowers.
However, these challenges can be mitigated through a strategic approach. The advantage of leaving a hero in the city is not only in defense but may be used as a tactic for facing a stronger army. The settlement has the benefits of structures that provide defense advantages, higher terrain, and the option to pre-position defensive forces.
You may want to leave wielders in cities near hostile regions for maximum protection against such wielding thugs. As a precautionary step, any normal attacks from the enemy wielders will be discouraged and your settlement will be well guarded.
Conquering settlement and sieges
Some lines in this paragraph could be more clearly explained and ambiguities removed. Here's the rewritten paragraph:
To win the campaign, you must capture settlements. The neutral ones are there for the taking by visiting them; they will fall into your hands straight away and begin generating income. The settlements that house hostile forces are typically lightly defended. You will have to defeat them in conventional combat, but often the enemy fortifications present a more formidable opponent, which depends on the settlement type and level. Once you have defeated an enemy settlement, you will be presented with two or three options:
Occupation: Applicable to the largest fortresses, this immediately captures some extra merits while limiting your control. The settlement is still partly under the enemy's influence, and the building is not possible. Raze: It destroys all the enemy buildings and thus gives you total ownership so that you can rebuild them. Conversion: This more peaceful approach will keep most of the faction-specific buildings, but it takes some time, and one needs to wait. Therefore, when these options are used accordingly, one can expand the territory, increase the resources, and thus dominate.
