In "Songs of Conquest," there are four factions that can be commanded: Arleon, Barony of Loth, Rana, and Barya. Songs of Conquest 1.0 has four playable factions, each having a unique four-mission campaign. All these factions can be played in every game mode.


• Arleon: The remains of a great empire, Arleon combines classic human units with magical creatures such as fae and faun. • Rana: A swamp-dweller alliance, Rana boasts a very eclectic mix of birds, frogmen, to the largest and baddest dragons. • Barony of Loth: A dying land resorting to dark rituals in their desperation, Loth's units are all but undead in nature supported by cultists and necromancers. • Barya: A nation of entrepreneurial humans, Barya uses firearms and cannons on their units.


This game will be seeing more factions in the future, with updates and DLCs. 

Tier list of factions


Choosing the best faction in [Game Name] is quite complicated since it heavily depends on the playstyle, map size, and objectives that a player wants. While all of them have their pros and cons, a deep understanding of each will guide someone to make an informed choice.


It is highly recommended to do all the story campaigns that are available, since this gives insight into the playstyle of each faction, the units present, and ways to use them. Sometimes this can be difficult, especially when it deals with missions later on in the campaign, but often provides rewarding knowledge and experience.


How well a faction performs often depends on the game mode and the size of the map. Factions perform better on smaller maps where the weight of a lower-tier unit is greater. Conversely, the ones depending on powerful elite units could perform well on larger maps when one has ample time to research and recruit them.


Based on our analysis, the Barony of Loth seems to be the most competitive because it offers the best combination of early-game strength and late-game versatility; thus, their spells are powerful, and the units are useful in many game situations. The Rana faction has very good Wielders but may have a problem with unit strength. On the other hand, Rana could field Dragons-the most powerful units in the game-and that may be decisive on larger maps.


The Barya and Arleon factions sometimes might falter a little as compared to Loth or Rana. They can be decent on small maps, and with the proper player, they can be very successful.


All in all, your preferred faction will boil down to your preference and the way you would like to play. The best method to live out your ultimate choice is by playing through different factions and with different strategies.

Arleon


Arleon serves as a starting faction throughout the campaign and supplies an easy learning curve for the in-game mechanics. Initial missions provide a rather relaxed pace since the enemy Wielders are confined to movement. Starting from mission 3 onwards, however, one has to pay close attention to city defense and capturing enemy settlements while keeping an eye out for roaming enemy Wielders.


Arleon has a mix of both humans and Fae in its roster, meaning players can freely choose the option with which they want to create their Wielder. More importantly, units from both can be mixed in an army without restrictions, providing an advantage to an army. This flexibility comes with a catch, though: human units create Order Essence, whereas the Fae produce Chaos Essence. Furthermore, specializations applied to the Wielder can provide greater predisposition toward one over the other, applying limitations to mixed-race armies.


Key Arleon units include the Ranger, very good at range, and the Knight, who defends the range units and can function as a melee fighter. The Fae Noble is also very powerful out of range.


For a solid Arleon base, the order is to build barracks first. This crucial building requires Stone, which can be gathered from nodes or mines surrounding the place. Therefore, an important upgrade in the barracks is the lumber mill that opens other unit types. For further development of structures, one can decide to construct a Fae Grove or even a Castle. Now, for your research upgrade, start with the Grand Armory.

Rana


The Rana campaign is the second one which the game suggests. It's more difficult compared to Arleon. Already from the first mission, players have to fight against a very strong enemy Wielder. The Rana faction, with all its beast units-many of them looking like some sort of overgrown toad-will give you a very unique experience.


The main units here are the Dragons and the Elder Dragons, which are mobile and very strong in their attack capabilities. Other strong units are the Burrowers, nimble at going underground and carrying out backdoor surprises. Composition of the army, especially at the beginning, requires high-attacking units with the least losses.


Creation and Arcana Essences are used a lot by Rana Wielders. The Mud Hut can be built rather early to unlock many types of units. For resource gathering, it is a good idea to build Gatherers and Diggers near mines. A Smoldering Cave, while useful to train Dragons, can be delayed or even be skipped for the smaller scenarios. With these methods and units, one should pass the Rana campaign with flying colors.

Barony of Loth


Loth's third-in-line campaign is a special challenge for the Barony. You'll have less time to get used to its unique units and buildings, all of which are undead in nature. Success here will require good strategy and rapid adaptation.


Most of Loth's units are undead but also offers a selection of human units. The wielders may be either human or undead, and this choice bears no difference in the course of gameplay, allowing for interesting combinations such as an undead hero leading human units.


Notable among the undead units are the Spectres and powerful Legions. The Toxicologist is a versatile, ranged unit that does well in an attack move. One unique feature of Loth's campaigns is gaining more undead units when you defeat human armies. Weak they might be, but sometimes cannon fodder proves to be valuable in combat.


While the armies can be comprised of both humans and undead, some Wielders specialize in one race. This can weaken the potential of the other during battle. Center your efforts around casting spells using Arcana and Destruction Essences to maximize the power of your Wielder.


While developing your base, focus on mass producing cheap units from the Rat Warren or Crypt. If you are low on resources, check the surrounding Towns for mines. Some of the more advanced buildings will have specific prerequisites, such as the Lumber Mill. If you think you will need larger armies later in the game, prepare a Summoning Circle to hire mighty Legions.

Barya


Barya's campaign is no joke. As the fourth faction in line, expect strong opposition. Take a sneak peek at what awaits you in the opening mission, where your Wielder must immediately face a hard skirmish against another Wielder.


Barya units come from races such as humans and harima, the latter similar to goblins in appearance but much more intelligent. Wielders have absolute freedom when it comes to the makeup of the units. A human Wielder can easily include harima troops.


Notable Barya units include the Pikeneers, capable of attacking from a safe distance; Dreaths, masters of counterattacks; and Hellbreaths, which are powerful cannons but very slow. Barya Wielders can specialize in specific races or unit types-for example, Nimander-offering tailored bonuses. Consider this in constructing your army and concentrate on Order and Destruction Essences.


Start out by building mercenary quarters to unlock various units; you're going to need some wood for this, either from resource nodes or a mine. Soon as possible, get a Dreath Den. Upgrading buildings and researching technologies becomes important in Barya's success. When it's not going to cripple you, consider a Merchants Guild or Foundry.
