During the golf putting tests with Rose Zhang, she demonstrated elite ability to ignore the pressure of external distractions, a tactic she trained extensively when she was a junior golfer. Rose was able to stay up to 50% more in the optimal zone for short yardage putts, which was over double than the grassroots golfer when faced with a similar putt. “As much as golf is about technical ability, it is also truly a game of mental strength. When it comes to my own game, I know I try to be a perfectionist, but when under pressure this can become a barrier for me.” adidas is working with elite and grassroots athletes to help them manage pressure in sport’s biggest moments – teaming up with leading sport neuroscientists, neuro11, to understand the impact it has within a game of football, basketball, and golf.
