These variables will affect the taste of coffee which is why we created a step-by-step tutorial on how to adjust these settings on the Barista Express™ Impress so that you can make the perfect cup of coffee to suit your taste.
How to adjust the shot volume (00:19):
1. Grind, press and trim your portafilter if needed. Insert the portafilter into the group head then press and hold the “1-cup” and “2-cup” buttons for three seconds. The buttons will flash.
2. Select either the ‘1-cup’ button or the ‘2-cup’ button based on which one you would like to adjust. This will start the extraction.
3. Once the chosen volume has been extracted, press the same button to stop the extraction. The machine will then save the new volume and return to standby mode.
How to change the temperature (00:48):
Remember that different beans might require different brew temperatures to extract their full flavour. Before adjusting the shot temperature, turn the machine off then press and hold the “filter”, “1-Cup” and “2-Cup” and “Power” buttons. The machine will beep once and the illuminated button will indicate the current temperature at 93°C. Adjust the temperature with the following settings:
- To increase the temperature by 1°C, press the ‘2-cup’ button.
- To increase the temperature by 2°C, press the ‘Power’ button.
- To decrease the temperature by 1°C, press the ‘Manual dose’ dial.
- To decrease the temperature by 2°C, press the ‘Dose’ button.
- To reset to factory default temperature at 93°C, press the ‘1-cup’ button.
It is worth noting that you can only change the temperature once each time you enter advanced temperature mode. If you would like to change it again, you will need to enter advanced temperature mode again.
