Add a floral touch to your cup of coffee with these staple latte art patterns: the Tulip and the Rosetta. If you’ve already mastered the fundamentals of latte art such as ‘The Dot’ and ‘The Heart’, this is the next step for you.
Directions for the Tulip (00:04):
1. Start with the jug up high and the cup tilted to create a larger surface area of the espresso.
2. Pour a thin, constant stream of microfoam milk to pierce the centre of the crema.
3. As the cup starts to fill, tilt the cup more upright so as not to spill your delicious coffee.
4. Then bring the tip of the jug close to the surface of the milk, almost touching it.
5. At this point a white dot will appear, pause and then pour again very close to the surface and repeat 2-3 times, creating arcs.
6. Finally, pull through the centre of the arcs and lift the jug to finish.
Directions for the Rosetta (00:45):
1. Start with the jug up high and the cup tilted to create a larger surface area of the espresso.
2. Pour a thin, constant stream of microfoam milk to pierce the centre of the crema.
3. As the cup starts to fill, tilt the cup more upright so as not to spill your delicious coffee.
4. Then bring the tip of the jug close to the surface of the milk, almost touching it.
5. A white dot will begin to appear. Keep pouring the dot within the surface of the cup, then gently move your jug from left to right, creating leaves.
6. Pull through the leaves revealing the rosetta pattern and lift the jug to finish.
