Once breaking was announced as an Olympic sport, Sunny went all in to pursue this new dream of breaking at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Sunny’s openness to change allowed her to see a new path. Sunny is poised to break limits at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. #VoicesofGalaxy #TeamSamsungGalaxy #Paris2024 #Samsung 0:02 Being open to change is what allowed me 0:06 to see new pathways for myself 0:09 that I never would've thought possible. 0:18 My name is Sunny Choi, 0:19 I live in Queens, New York, 0:21 and my sport is breaking. 0:24 I grew up as a gymnast 0:25 and I already had my sights set on gold 0:28 at the Olympics really, really young. 0:29 And then, I ended up doing gymnastics through high school, 0:32 blew out my knee, had some complications, 0:34 and then I ended up having to quit before I got to college. 0:37 I was breaking on the side at that time, 0:39 but, you know, while I loved it, 0:41 I never thought that it was gonna be something 0:42 I was gonna do full time. 0:44 So I graduated, started working in corporate, 0:47 and then they announced breaking was going to the Olympics. 0:51 Then I had to make a decision, 0:54 keep this life that gave me the semblance of stability 0:58 or make a leap for something very new 1:01 and that I knew was gonna make me much happier. 1:06 And there's something like really liberating 1:08 about being able to just be you 1:11 and not worry about what anyone else thinks. 1:15 So, you know, getting into breaking 1:17 was really, really challenging 1:18 'cause it was all about letting go of control, 1:22 allowing things to just kind of happen naturally 1:24 a little bit more, life was just so much better. 1:30 This is what I love to do, 1:32 and having the opportunity 1:33 to go to the Olympics is so special. 1:36 How many times does someone get a second chance 1:39 at their childhood dreams? 1:42 Life just has so much beauty to offer 1:44 and I just feel like it would be a shame 1:45 to go through life not being open to those new experiences.
