VIDEO Gucci The Awakening: Butheina Kazim TV commercial 2023 • In the fourth act of Vogue and Gucci Bloom’s ‘The Awakening’ series, the founder of the Gulf’s first arthouse cinema celebrates reflection and inspiration through film. “My work with cinema has always been about an insistence on celebrating the fringes, celebrating the peripheral, the marginal, and amplifying these voices,” says Dubai-based film curator Butheina Kazim. In the film directed by Amirah Tajdin, she reflects on her work as a film curator, amplifying female voices in cinema in the Gulf and her personal awakening. The founder of Cinema Akil, the first arthouse cinema in her hometown of Dubai, Kazim delicately applies Gucci Bloom Intense, as she considers the magical capacity of film.
