There are several large monsters for players to hunt, including Chatacabras and Quematrices, which can help in crafting a full set of armor. However, more experienced Monster Hunter players should have no trouble surviving in the Scarlet Forest even with the most basic of equipment, so forging and upgrading equipment is not a strict requirement.
Steps to Head Toward the Forest
Location:
To head toward the forest, you need to go to the most northerly point of the Windward Plains. Here, you'll find the Riverside Trail, which will lead you to the Scarlet Forest and the next main story objective.
Using the Map:
Open up your map and look for the red map marker at the Riverside Trail.
Place a waypoint by pressing the R3/RS button while hovering the cursor over the marker.
