The alert pops up every time I take a screenshot, and I always get the "Screenshot wasn't automatically saved" message. I discovered the problematic Registry entry and removed it after some workaround; the issue was then resolved.
Make sure you have a backup of the Windows Registry before attempting to use this approach. You never know when things can go wrong. After that, be sure you strictly adhere to these steps:
- Open the Registry Editor by typing regedit and pressing the Enter key. Locate the User Shell Folders key in the registry. This is the way to go:

- Try to find the value of the string {B7BEDE81-DF94-4682-A7D8-57A52620B86F}.
- To remove the value, right-click on it and choose "Delete."
- Select Yes from the Confirm Value Delete drop-down menu.
- Restart your computer or log out of your account.
It would be great if the Snipping Tool could automatically create a folder for screenshots in the original place. Just snap a picture and it will be saved in that spot. The next step, if you haven't already, is to make a folder called Screenshots and tell the Snipping Tool to save its pictures there. So far, so good.
After restoring the Screenshots folder, you may notice that the Properties box no longer has the Location tab. To remedy this, try using this registry technique.
