While some of the pre-built rides Frontier has created for all users in Planet Coaster 2 are pretty cool, building your own is the heart of the game. However, making them yourself means you also need to add style to the ride yourself. Again, that style comes in the form of scenery.
Just like you can do anywhere in the park, you can add bushes, lights, and more directly to rides and their surroundings. There are some limitations to what scenery fits on rides, so some of the larger pieces of scenery may not fit on some of the smaller ride elements. Otherwise, you can dream up whatever decor you want.
How to Add Scenery to Flat Rides
First, you need to have added a ride to the park using the custom ride builder to take full advantage of the scenery options. Any flat will already have the scenery attached to it.
Once you've done that, select the ride and move to the second tab from the end, which looks like a paint palette. You'll then see an option to Attach Scenery at the top of that page.
Select it and the Scenery menu will appear, allowing you to select from a variety of options and add them to the ride and surrounding area.
You'll be able to choose from lighting effects, pyrotechnics, bushes, railings, and more, to make the flat ride fit the theme of the rest of your park.
Since many of the flat ride layouts are Viking or Planet Coaster themed, they often don't fit your park. So, it's best to create your own using the custom tools.
Why Add Scenery to Rides
The reasons you would add scenery to your rides go beyond your rides being prettier and fitting your park's theme. Those reasons boil down to guest preference and the prestige of your park.
Adding scenery will increase your scenery rating, which is one of four factors that influence your overall park rating. Scenics that are rated as prestigious and visible to visitors will count towards that rating, so adding them to flat attractions is important.
The higher the park's rating, the more likely visitors will want to spend money and the more visitors your park will attract.
