Should You Help or Kill Squint in Stalker 2

A non-playable character named Squint will appear in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl's "A Needle in a Haystack" main quest. You can choose to aid Squint or murder him at that very moment. All the possible results, for both choices, are laid out in this guide.

What Does Assisting Squint in Stalker 2 Really Do?

Choosing the "What's your escape plan?" dialogue option will opt you to help out Squint, and he'll tell you of a relic that will help him. The moment you accept the "Piece of Cake" quest, you'll notice it creates a marker on your map for the location of the cave containing the said-relic.

You will notice, on the map, there is a home that acts as an entrance for the cave. Enter the house to begin your exploration of the cave. Something to make things more challenging is when you enter into the cave, an invisible Bloodsucker will attack you.

You can run past the Bloodsucker or engage him in an all-out fight. You can spend your ammunition on the mutant or choose not to engage him at all.

When you've followed the path in the cave and reached an open area, you'll see some acid puddles on the floor. Get interested in something using your Echo Scanner. Go inside the puddle and you'll hear the detector's beeps accelerate. The strength of the beeps means proximity to the artifact.

The relic will pop up out of the ground as you're practically on top of it, and you can pick it up to throw it in your bag. Bring it back to Squint and give it to him, now that you have the thing.

He doesn't need the Ward Sensors anymore, so he'll give them to you as a reward.

Stalker 2: What Happens When You Kill Squint?

If you kill Squint on the spot when you come across him during the major quest, you will be able to take the Ward Sensors, along with everything else, off his corpse.

The side quest to find the artifact in Piece of Cake is gone, forever. Also, you can give the Ward Sensors only to Captain Zotov; if you kept Squint alive, you would be able to give them to Richter, too.

Once you've got the item, you can choose to either deliver it to him or kill him to keep it for yourself; keeping him alive will give you the side mission. You'll get to keep the item as well as the Ward Sensors.

Which Choice Is Best For You?

It's better to kill Squint right away and take a shortcut to the cave yourself. Other than the Ward Sensors, which you can grab from him right after killing him, he has nothing to give you.

Mold, the artifact in the cave, isn't worth going out of your way to look for either. The Mold artifact only provides feeble chemical protection, making fighting the Bloodsucker not worth it.

There aren't much repercussions for killing Squint because neither Richter nor Captain Zotov will ask what happened to him if you give them the Ward Sensors. You can't give Richter the Ward Sensors, though; that's the only catch. Aside from that, you can get the Ward Sensors, complete Squint in the beginning, and proceed.
