During the side quest “The Lost Boys” in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, you will be given the option to join either The Ninth, a member of the Monolith cult, or Dew and his gang. If you don’t know which option to choose, this guide will help you out.

Stalker 2 The Lost Boy Side Quest Walkthrough

You will receive the side quest The Lost Boy from Lens who will tell you about a group of diggers who were sent on a commission to find valuable items. However, they can no longer make contact with the group. You can find the group by heading to their last known position, a bunker.

Once you reach the objective marker and enter the bunker, descend to the next level and enter the room to your right. You will find a PDA next to a corpse that reveals that the group was going to be killed by a broadcast.

Continue into the passage and you will find a shotgun and a bag on the floor. You will also find a machine on the floor. Pick it up and install it in the fuse box inside the room on the left.

Follow the path and go through the room with the anomaly. Go down the stairs while staying safe from the rat enemies. You'll find one of the group members named Max Saturday, who you need to heal. Talk to him to learn about the group leader, Mastiff, who was kidnapped by a Monolithian and taken to a cursed apartment building.

Once you're done talking to him, go up the stairs and activate the switch to open the door. Proceed down the hallway and move towards the next objective marker.

Upon arrival, you'll be attacked by a group of dogs. Take them out and head into the shed to the left of the house. Break the lock and go inside to find an underground tunnel. Go to the other side of the tunnel inside the house and you'll hear The Ninth inside.

You'll find a wounded Mastiff on a bed and a ladder leading you to the attic. Head up to the attic to find The Ninth. Talk to him to hear his side of the story. During the conversation, you'll be interrupted by a group of gang members led by Dew. They're determined to hunt down the Monolithic Soldier. This is where you'll have to choose between siding with The Ninth or Dew.

What happens if you side with The Ninth in The Lost Boy?

If you choose to listen to The Ninth and side with him, you'll have to kill the gang members outside. There are a lot of them outside, and you'll need a lot of your resources to get out of that situation.

The Ninth will help you fight off the mercenaries, but there's also a risk of him getting killed. Whatever you do, make sure he comes out of this fight safe and sound if you want any of this.

When you've killed the gang and their leader, talk to The Ninth to learn more about the faction. He'll give you a Rubber Layer blueprint, an upgrade that technicians can install on your auto rifle.

When you return to Lens and report to him about the missing diggers, he'll give you 500 coupons for finding Mastiff and give you a lecture for siding with a monolith.

What happens if you side with Dew in The Lost Boy?

If you side with Dew, you'll have to help him and the gang kill The Ninth, who's hiding inside the house. The Ninth's health will be tougher than the other human enemies, so you'll help the gang get rid of him.

Once you've killed him, you won't find anything worth money from him, but once you report back to Lens, he'll give you 1000 coupons, double what you get when you side with The Ninth.

What's the best choice in The Lost Boy?

It's better to side with The Ninth than Dew, as you get the rare blueprint and half the reward you'd get for siding with Dew.

You can only get the Rubber Coat Blueprint from The Ninth in the game, and there is no other way to get it. It is a great upgrade for your automatic rifle that reduces the recoil of the weapon. But is it worth losing 500 coupons for it? Absolutely. There are other ways to make money in the game. For more information on this, check out our guide on how to make money fast in Stalker 2.

Can you avoid conflict in The Lost Boy?

Even if you try to stop Drew from entering the building to kill Ninth, he will push you aside and enter the house with his gang. Also, if you tell the truth that Monolithian saved Mastiff from the mutants, then you will be considered a traitor and he will start attacking you. Therefore, there is no way you can avoid conflict and you will have to choose a side.
