Cannot Write to Memory Error in Windows 11

Use these fixes to resolve the can't write to memory error on your Windows 11/10 PC:

1] Reinstall or Repair the Program

It is one of the best solutions to resolve this error. Usually, when this can't write to memory error related to a program or an application appears, the name of that program is mentioned in the title bar of the error box. So, we already know the problematic program. If the error appears continuously, then you need to repair the program. This will not affect the data of the program or application, so the content will remain there. Here are the steps:

If this does not solve the problem, you need to uninstall the program. After that, delete the remaining files of the program, restart the PC, and reinstall it.

2] Run CHKDSK Utility

CHKDSK is a Windows operating system tool that checks the file system of a drive or volume for logical errors (caused by file corruption, software, malware, improper shutdown, etc.) and physical errors. It also helps in repairing disk errors, locating bad sectors on the disk, recovering readable information, etc. So, if the problem stems from file system errors, bad sectors, etc., you need to run the CHKDSK utility on your Windows system.

To run Check Disk using the command line, type the following and press Enter: chkdsk /f /r ChkDsk /f scans and attempts to repair errors on the file system.
ChkDsk /r includes /f, but it also scans the entire disk surface for physical errors and attempts to repair them as well.

If prompted, restart your computer and wait for the tool to run upon restart.

3] Run Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

If the error of not being able to write to memory is due to physical memory (or RAM) and is a frequent one, you should use the Windows Memory Diagnostic utility. It is a built-in feature of the Windows operating system that tests the RAM for problems.

You can open and run the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool using the search box, Run command box, or other methods on your Windows PC. However, you should save all your work and close applications before starting the test as a system restart is required to use this tool.

The utility performs a RAM test and thoroughly scans the RAM for any issues. Once the test is completed and the system is restarted, you will receive a result notification. If any issues or errors are found in the result, you should call a professional or head to the official service center for the next step.

 4] Resize Virtual Memory

An application error can occur if the system is low on memory or if all the available physical memory is consumed by other processes. In that case, virtual memory can come in handy.

The virtual memory feature is a useful tool for you to use.It frees up space in RAM by temporarily transferring data to RAM. It frees up some data to hard disk space when RAM is full. We cannot resize physical memory but we can resize virtual memory easily. So, if your system is low on virtual memory, you can change or increase the virtual memory size to resolve this error.

Type View advanced system settings in the Windows 11 search box and press Enter to open the System Properties box. In this box switch to the Advanced tab and click on the Settings button-for the Performance section, of course. Performance Options box will open up. There, go to the Advanced tab and click on the Change button-for the Virtual memory section. Uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives option. Now, you can adjust the system settings, virtual memory size for available volumes.

5] Perform a system restore

If the problem started recently, you need to perform a system restore. If you have created system restore points, select a restore point when your system is working properly and complete the process.
