How to Upgrade Your Farm in Farmagia

The first time you start Farmagia, your farm is really a mess. It's so small and cluttered up with stuff that can't be moved. If we're ever going to get our army of Buddies, a few changes are going to have to be made.

How to Accumulate Research Points

In Farmagia, you're going to want Research Points, which help you improve your farm. You get these by planting something called Research Buddies. The seeds for said friends require you to do a little bit of exploration to obtain, but they're yours with every monster kill in Mazes.

Planting the Research Buddies: remember that there are three types of them. You will have one section of your farm where you will plant the small research buddies, which come in green bags. Medium ones, which could have been purchased in blue bags, require a 2×2 square. Large variety, packed in purple bags, requires a 3×3 square.

You will earn one Research Point for each of the Research Buddies you harvest, irrespective of whether they are huge or minuscule. Proceed to choose the Research Notes from the Farm Menu so you can use them.

How to Clean Up Your Farm of Litter

Once you open the Research Notes, one of the first upgrades available is clearing obstacles from your farm. When you unlock this, a new power called Remove will be available on the wheel. This first improvement only allows removing rocks from your farm. For the time being, you'll have to leave the logs as they are. It may take some time to get access to further improvements that will make this better.

There are two enhances for the Remove action; the one to the left of the Research Notes is the most convenient from the first. You can get all items you need from the starting continent of Avrion and Perfectus by destroying monsters and breaking scenery in mazes. You should be able to get the resources you want by running the Maze on a few of the listed continents, but this is not guaranteed since these drops are random. Nevertheless, an awful lot of node traversal is needed to get this.

Because two Toxic Spottie Leaves are needed for it, and are only found on the continent of Sonrisa, you won't have access to the third upgrade until you actually get there.

Expanding Your Farm

Since the farm you start out with in Farmagia is small, you really have no reason not to upgrade it right away. The first betterment here is quite easy to unlock since it's placed two spaces below the Remove Obstacles ability for convenience. You have to progress through the plot to unlock the slot, but it's just a couple of tasks.

There are a couple more size upgrades planned that aren't quite so urgent as this first expansion. As for early game needs, this offers a decent amount of space. For now, however, the logs will remain a nuisance.

Upgrade Farm Tools

Among the most important upgrades are the upgrades for Tools, which speed up your interaction with the farm. With these upgrades, you can click and hold the tool button to get an area of influence you can affect in one go.

Lucky for you, these are also some of the easiest upgrades to unlock for Farmagia farms. They are scattered throughout the Research Notes, with a few grouped toward the beginning. If you have visited Mazes a number of times, then by now you probably clear a couple of them.
