Understanding the HUD in Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has been out for a week now, and while it's a blast, the game isn't without its oddities, like the light tutorial that leaves out key information on the HUD. If you've been wondering what's what on your screen, fear not: we've got your back! We've broken down the HUD so you can spend more time trying to win and less time trying to figure things out.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO: What is the HUD?

The HUD is your in-game user interface, displaying critical information you'd like to know in order to manage your character and strategy. Think of it as your combat command center, displaying everything from health to Ki to skill points and much more. Here, we show you how to read every part of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO's HUD and use it to your advantage.

HP Gauge:

The HP gauge shows how much health you or your opponent has left. It's very simple: if you get hit, your HP goes down. When your HP reaches zero, the game ends. The gauge changes color to blue, so you can easily gauge the danger zone.

HP Bar

The HP bar corresponds to your HP gauge and shows how many layers of health you have. The colors of both bars match, giving you an instant idea of how close you or your opponent is to defeat.

Ki Gauge

The Ki Gauge measures your energy (Ki) for special attacks, such as lightning and dashes. You can build up Ki by charging it manually or by landing blows on your opponent. When your Ki Gauge is full, you'll begin filling your Sparking! Gauge, which will allow you to unleash powerful combos in Sparking! Mode. Note that activating Sparking! Mode costs one Skill Point, but more on that below.

Skill Count

The Skill Count represents Skill Points, which power up your character's transformations, fusions, Sparking! Mode, and special moves. You earn Skill Points by filling the curved blue bar next to the number of points available. You can also charge Ki to fill up the curved bar and rack up these points.

Transformation Icon

The transformation icon indicates how many transformations your character has available. To transform, he has to gain skill points. For example:

Returning to your base form doesn't cost you anything, but to transform again, you'll need to recharge those skill points.

Switch Icon

The switch icon allows you to rotate between your team members. You can have up to five characters on your team (1 active, 4 in reserve). The switch skill has a cooldown, so plan your switches wisely.

Hit Count The hit count tracks how many hits you've landed in a combo and the total damage dealt. Keep an eye on this to maximize your combo potential and rack up damage.

Timer

The timer counts down the time remaining in the fight. In the case of a solo match, the timer is set to 300 seconds, while in multi-fighter matches you have 600 seconds to win.

Here's the full breakdown of the HUD in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. Now that you know what's going on, jump into battle, unleash your power, and show the universe who's boss!
