Where to Find a Progenitor in Warframe 

In order for one to interact with Warframe's Nemesis system, i.e. Kuva Lich or Sister, one must create said Kuva Lich by turning a Progenitor into one, either a Kuva Lich for Grineer or Sister of Parvo for the Corpus. This is accomplished by "killing" said Progenitor and then stabbing it with your Parazon. The next time this Progenitor comes out, it will have a name, a Basic Element—starting from the Warframe you used to kill it—and a serious attitude that you'll need to adapt. More importantly, however, successfully killing this Empowered Progenitor will net you an additional powerful weapon with elemental damage tied to the Element that the Lich/Sister was.

Now, where exactly can you find a Progenitor to begin this process? Even though they seem hard to find, they are actually pretty easy to cast out of the shadows. I'll be breaking down the process for both the Grineer and Corpus.

Grineer Progenitor – Kuva Larvling

 In order to spawn a Kuva Larvling, you must have completed the main quest The War Within. Afterwards, any Grineer mission that has a chance to spawn enemies level 20 or higher will have a chance to spawn a Kuva Larvling. In any normal Grineer mission, if your screen starts flashing, you must kill 10 enemies within a minute to guarantee a Kuva Larvling will spawn. Capture missions in the Grineer Asteroid Tile Collection are the easiest type of mission to spawn Kuva Larvlings, as you'll have a near-infinite supply of enemies coming for you even after you've completed the objective.

When a Larvling spawns, kill it and stab it with your Parazon to turn it into a Kuva Lich.

Corpus Progenitor – Candidate 

Corpus Candidates are a bit harder to summon only because their requirements are somewhat stricter. To spawn a candidate, you must use a Zenith Granum Crown on any Corpus ship mission and then obtain the rank 1 rewards during the challenge. Kill the Treasury Corpus that will spawn to acquire the Zenith. You must then use the crown on a Golden Hand tribute statue. Additionally, you must have completed The War Within and Call of the Temperstarii questlines before one will spawn for you.

If you've made it this far, then the process for dealing with a Candidate is the same as with the Kuva Larvling. Kill it and stab it with your Parazon to turn it into a Parvo Sister.

What is a Progenitor Warframe?

The final piece of the puzzle is the Warframe you use to kill a Kuva Larvling or Candidate. As mentioned, the elemental that will be on the Kuva Lich or Parvo Sister will depend entirely on which Warframe you used to kill it, so be a Progenitor Warframe. If you're looking for a specific element from one of the weapons to drop a Lich or Sister, make sure you're killing their premature forms with the right Warframe.
