 How to fix error 0x80004005 in Windows

When the user is unable to access shared folders, drives, virtual machines, changes to their Microsoft account, or Windows updates are not installed, the error 0x80004005 (a non-specific problem) will usually appear. Since the message does not specify the actual problem even in Microsoft's books, the solution depends on where and how the error message is generated.

Problem with 0x80004005: Reasons and solutions Error 0x80004005 in VirtualBox 

1. Problems usually arise with the registry key.

Hold down the Windows key and press the R key. Choke on OK and type regedit.

Please read them and continue with the following registry path: The line "C:Program FilesOracleVirtualBoxVirtualBox.exe" has the attribute "DISABLEUSERCALLBACKEXCEPTION" set in the table HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionAppCompatFlagsLayers. Delete it and try again if this key exists. Try disabling your antivirus software if deleting the key does not work.

If it still does not work, then: - Uninstall your antivirus software, try it and then install it again.

– Get a new antivirus program, such as AVG or Security Essentials and replace the old one.

2. Access a shared drive or folder and error 0x80004005 will be generated.

 A LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy value will be generated by using regedit.

Hold down the Windows key and press the R key. Press OK and type regedit.

In the edit menu, go to the following path: The current version of the Windows registry is important for the system. A new DWORD called LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy is created for a 32-bit system.

The QWORD LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy (64-bit) must be created for a 64-bit system.

Make sure to click "OK" and enter the value in the number 1 (which means enabled) in any case.

By default, the value for LocalAccountTokenFilterPolicy is generated before you can set the data - no problem, just double-click it and you can edit the data from 0 to 1. Once purchased, press the computer example to see if there are any shared drives and folders available.

If this still does not happen, enable the VirtualBox NDIS6 Bridget Networking Driver for each network adapter you have (Ethernet, WiFi, etc.), deselect NDIS6 each time and try.

4.2 Uninstall Windows 7 

You must uninstall Microsoft 6to4 devices from your task manager to fix this issue. Please note that you may not see these devices because they are hidden by default. Therefore, you will only be able to see them once you enable the “Show hidden devices” option.

Here are the steps to remove these devices: Press R while holding the Windows key. Then, press Enter. 

5.1 Type devmgmt.msc. 

To see hidden devices, click View and then choose Show. Select “Network adapters” by double-clicking on it. On the Microsoft 6to4 device, select Uninstall by right-clicking. For all the Microsoft 6to4 devices you see listed, repeat this step.

Restart your computer once you are done. Once you log into Windows again, your problem should be resolved.
