Quick Fix
To prevent your microphone from picking up sound from your speaker, ensure that you turn on acoustic echo cancellation if you are using Realtek Audio Console.
1. Disable Stereo Mixer.
As mentioned above, stereo mixing combines all sound outputs from your system. Discord can use it as a microphone when enabled, capturing your voice and all audio from your system. Disabling this feature will only allow Discord to capture your microphone as it stops the merging of input and output devices.
- Click on the Sound icon and select Sound Settings to do so.
- Click on “More Sound Settings” after you have dragged the slider to the bottom.
- Navigate to Recordings and right-click on Stereo Mix.
- Disable is Selected.
- After you have done this, check if Discord still records game audio.
2.Second, in Discord, change the settings for Input and Output Devices.
It may also be that simply one audio device is wrong, for example, your microphone instead of Stereo Mix, could cause Discord to capture both game and microphone simultaneously. This will give your players the ability to hear you and your game sounds.
So, make sure you select the proper input/output devices. Also, you can set Noise Suppression to Krisp and enable it. So, your headset won't hinder the sound of the game.
- Launch Discord and go to Settings.
- Choose "Video" and "Sound" on the left side.
- Find your microphone under the input device and your headphones under the output device to secure your recording.
- Scroll down to the bottom, turn on Noise Suppression and set it to Krisp once done.
3. Inspect and modify the microphone sensitivity.
Background noise, especially sounds from your headphones, can be decreased by adjusting the microphone sensitivity. It can also affect your gameplay and communication with your teammates if the microphone sensitivity is too low. Make sure that the microphone is not set to an excessively high or low setting.
- Launch Discord and go to Settings.
- Left side: You can see Voice & Video.
- Mute functionality. Make sure that the gradient controller is in the center and the input sensitivity is set to automatic.
4. Give the microphone full control.
Discord may not have exclusive control over your microphone, possibly because it is acquiring multiple input sources. To fix this issue, you need to give Discord full control of your microphone so that it doesn't happen again.
- Select Sound Settings by right-clicking on the sound icon in the bottom right corner.
- Click on "More sound settings" after sliding the slider down.
- Right-click on the microphone device and select Properties. Then go to Recordings.
- After that, head over to Settings and select Allow applications to have exclusive control of this device.
- Once that is done, click on Apply and then OK.
- Now check if this has already solved the problem.
- Reinstall or update the sound drivers. You will have to update or reinstall the driver if you are using old drivers or in case some third-party application has corrupted the audio drivers.
5.It will replace the old driver and the corruption causing the problem will be resolved. Follow them below to do so:
- Win + R pressed together opens the RUN program.
- To open Device Manager, type devmgmt.msc in the Run window and press Enter.
- To uninstall the microphone, go to Audio > Inputs and Outputs and then right-click on the microphone.
- This is confirmed by clicking Uninstall again.
- To reinstallbe caused by hardware issues, such as a faulty port, which is the cause of the problem.
