In that case, users are dumbfounded by the fact that options to set power plans are taken away from Windows, which means it cannot tailor system performance and energy settings. When it does happen, then "Balanced" or "High Performance" default power plans will also fail to appear in the Power Options menu. Most of the time, this is because of system corruption due to malware, problematic settings, or a flawed Windows update.

Hardware issues or incorrect system configurations can also result in missing power plans.

1. Restore Them Manually

If you have lost your power plans due to some updates or faults in the system, you can simply restore them by enabling the default settings.

Launch Command Prompt as administrator by searching for it from the Search Menu.  

Next, type each of these commands in succession.

Now, try restarting your computer and check if the power plans are back.

1.2 Do It Yourself File Downloads:

Just click this link to download the power plans in a compressed ".zip" file. Right-click the file in your Downloads folder and click the Extract option in the context menu. Save the extracted files to an easy-to-access location. 

Open the "Command Prompt" application as an administrator by searching for "Command Prompt" in the Start menu.

You'll install the required power plan with the following command: Import "C:Users2570pDownloadsDefault_Power_PlansPower saver.pow", or anything else that has been used as a path if it was installed elsewhere, in powercfg. 

When you extract the files, replace "C:Users2570pDownloadsDefault_Power_PlansPower saver.pow" with the actual path where the file is sitting.

Click the address bar, copy the path of the folder containing files, and paste into Command Prompt. To import the files from the Default_Power_Plans folder from the Downloads, use the following command: powercfg -import. File path: "C:Users2570pDownloadsDefault Power Plans"Power Saver.pow"  

Check in Control Panel whether all power plans you want to install have appeared by doing this process repeatedly.

2. Edit the Registry

By making changes to the registry, you would modify the parameters that govern Windows power management. You can either repair or rebuild these settings to ensure that all power plan options appear.

Open Run holding Windows + R keys and type regedit.HKLM_Local SystemThe power of the current control set, then press Enter.

Click this key, so the CsEnabled entry on the right side of the window becomes available. If it is there, right-click on it and select "Modify".

In the Edit box pop-up change the value under Value data from 1 to 0. Click Apply. Confirm any security dialogs that appear.

In case the problem may remain even after restarting the system, click on the Start menu, then the Power button, and finally the Restart option.

Important Note: If this is not to your expectation, you can provide another option to display each device that your computer detects with its own power plans.

Using the left pane of your registry editor find the following key: Following key is located in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPowerSoftwareSettings directory:  

There well be plenty of keys beneath the PowerSettings key that are named cryptically. For each one of those, go to the blank side of the page, right-click, then click New DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Rename any one of these variables to "Attributes" by right-clicking it and clicking that option. After creating the attribute value, right-click and select "Modify" from the context menu.

Click OK after replacing the value with 2 in Value data and base formatted as hexadecimal. Similarly, follow this procedure for every key in PowerSettings.

Test to see whether the problem has been resolved.

3. Create a Custom Power Plan

To override the default settings or sort out any particular system issues, you should create your own power plan. With the "Balanced" or "High Performance" template, you can have full control over the power parameters, hence being able to shape them as desired.

Next to the time and date in the bottom right of your screen, in the system tray, is a battery icon. Right-clicking on it opens Power Options.

If you cannot find it in the Control Panel, you can also access it through the Start menu using the search. Once opened, beneath the View by option, choose Large icons, then click on Power Options. 

Click on "Create a power plan" from the left-side menu options that will appear. On the window that opens after creating a power plan, select which power plan you want to restore.

In the opened window, fill in the name you want to give to the plan, and at the bottom right of the window, click Next.

Click on the Create button once you've made any changes you want to power off the screen, sleep your computer, or adjust brightness of the plan.

The new power plan is now ready, released. Select that at the time you want it to.
