When players find themselves on the receiving end of one, some may try to dodge or block it to minimize damage. However, for those who know how, there's actually a third option: deflecting the beams.
By using an ability known as Perception, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO players can deflect energy beams and ki blasts, which can prove to be quite useful in certain situations. In fact, they'll need to make use of this ability as part of the Episode Battle of Goku Saga, which requires players to deflect a Crusher Ball in order to unlock an alternate timeline.
How to Deflect a Crusher Ball in Arrival on Planet Namek
In order to deflect Jeice's Crusher Ball, players will need around one ki bar and two skill points. The former is necessary because they'll have to use Perception to deflect the powerful ki attacks, and Perception constantly drains ki while in use. The last one is important because deflecting a super will consume two skill points, which players can track in the top left corner of the screen. Assuming they have these two things, the process for deflecting Jeice's Crusher Ball is actually remarkably simple.
Players who are having trouble deflecting Jeice's Crusher Ball attack should switch to the easy difficulty setting. Doing so disables the secondary objective, automatically forcing Jeice to switch out for Burter after his health drops to a certain level. Players can then return to the encounter on the default difficulty setting and defeat Jeice as normal to experience the hypothetical scenario.
Players should initiate the fight as normal, then wait until Jeice prepares to use Crusher Ball, easy enough to identify due to the brief cinematic where he says "This will finish him!" Once this happens, players should quickly press and hold the Circle button on PlayStation or B on Xbox to activate Perception. If done correctly and players have two Skill points stored up, Goku will catch and deflect the Crusher Ball, causing Jeice to leave the battle and Burter to take his place.
Those using classic controls will need to press and hold Circle + Triangle (PlayStation) or B + Y (Xbox).
How to Deflect Lightning in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO
The process for deflecting other types of lightning and ki blasts in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is exactly the same as the one described above. As long as players have enough ki and some Skill points stored up, they'll be able to deflect lightning and energy waves by pressing and holding the Circle (PlayStation) or B (Xbox) button in the moments leading up to impact.
