Fire Dragon Mauna appears in a wide-open field-like area with two separate entrances. Your comrades will initially try to dissuade you from fighting the Dragon, telling you just how challenging the battle may be. There are various monsters hiding on either side of the arena, and they may make a big fuss over seeing you. Of course, running away from the mine using one of the secret ways is the better option. The boss fight itself is really soft, although your friends may say otherwise. Make sure all of your party members are fully healed and have 50 MP or more. That's because even on easy mode, this boss will be able to deal up to 75 damage every turn. You'll really want to try and make it through this final encounter in mines, as the rewards will be worth the extra work. IF you're low on health with no healing items or means to heal, you may have little option but to attempt to sneak by the boss.
The starting talents you get when you first enlist barely make any difference in the encounter later in the game, so feel free to choose whatever you like.
Without any kind of Mage archetype, a party will never be able to beat the Fire Dragon Mauna. This is due to the fact that Ice attacks are not as good to deal with the boss. You need to use those Ice Chunks-items that give you 100 Ice damage-you purchased from the Peddler at one point in the fight-to extend the number of turns you get off of the boss's weakness break.
That means you will have to put your Warrior Archetype in the most forward position of your party's defenses while the rest of your members cover up. Adding a new attack to the boss's kit makes recovery from fights on Hard really a pain.
If your Agility Stat is high, you will have a better chance of hitting the boss with your Ice and normal attacks.
Scratch is the first attack that this boss will perform; in it, the Dragon will attack one of your party members by using a claw strike. With that, members of the first row of your party can receive 75-100 damage. The second technique is the Fireball, targeting just one party member. The complication in this encounter will be if there is a Seeker Archetype in your party since Seekers are weak against fire, to which this boss can have an upper hand.
If you are on Hard mode, the boss does have one move called Tail Swipe that will hit your entire party. This move does this whether he's attacking the front or rear rows. The best party on Hard will be a Mage and two Warriors.
To amplify their Ice damage against the boss, players who are eager to adopt the Seeker Archetype can use the Tarukaja on the Mage.

Once the player kills the dragon, they will be in a position to acquire the three items in the mini arena and also access a chest that contains the following items:
