Here is a guide that will show you how to recruit and advance soldiers in Songs of Conquest in a simple way.

On the next page of our Songs of Conquest guide, we will present two of the most essential elements of the game: military enlistment and the advancement of soldiers. Learn all the tricks for recruiting and developing your troops to help you build an unbeatable army.

Recruiting soldiers

You can't succeed without a great army in Songs of Conquest. There are a few ways to recruit troops:

Encounters: As you travel across the world, you will sometimes encounter neutral troops that want to join your cause. These forces will appear on the map as neutral units of your faction.

Allied Settlements: If a tent appears on the map, that means allied units have waited to be recruited. Offer them gold or recruit them into your army.

Neutral Buildings: You can recruit warriors from neutral buildings of your same faction. These units are normally more expensive than units recruited from friendly settlement buildings.

Settlement Recruitment: You recruit troops from settlements you own through the trustee at the town hall or rally point. You can recruit from any of your villages.

Army Growth:

Troop Pool: Your troop pool increases each turn by the value of your buildings that have been constructed.

Settlement Resources: The more settlements you capture, the more resources you get, so be sure to set rally points in all the important villages.

Army Limit: Soldiers can only be combined into squads up to a certain limit. You can increase this limit by researching economics.

Recruitment Costs:

Gold: Most soldiers are recruited for gold.

Buildings: More advanced troops often require special buildings to recruit them.

Raw Materials: More powerful units are recruited for special resources.

These above-mentioned methods should be applied well, and with the proper management of resources, you can raise an overpowering army to take over the lands of Songs of Conquest.

Promoting and deleting units

As building upgrading is done, you'll be able to train more powerful variants of units in Songs of Conquest. Many times, development in buildings is interdependent, and this has been elaborated upon in our guide for how you can go about making your settlement.

While upgraded buildings allow one to recruit new units, training existing first-level soldiers requires visiting the appropriate settlement with the proper structure in place. This is a bit awkward but necessary for progression.

To remove any unwanted branch, point to the top-left corner of its portrait, and right-click and confirm its removal. This actually helps a lot in optimizing your resource allocation to the remaining branches in their development.

Keep in mind that you would have to consider a serious composition of armies and strategic goals before deciding on what units you really want to train and upgrade. With proper building and unit management, you will be able to get the best of your army, making it powerful and versatile to conquer the battlefield.
