To make the perfect cup of coffee to suit your taste, you may need to adjust the variables on your machine such as the espresso shot volume and extraction temperature, as these settings will affect the taste of your coffee and whether it’s more bitter or sour. Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to make these adjustments on the Oracle™ so you can create a great-tasting cup every time.
For all of the directions below, press the ‘Menu’ button to gain access to the shot settings on your machine.
How to adjust the shot volume and duration (00:05):
1. To adjust the shot volume, select ‘Shot Vol’ in the menu. The ‘Shot Vol’ will be displayed on the LCD screen.
2. Dose the portafilter using the auto-grind ‘Dose and Tamp’ function then insert the portafilter into the group head.
3. Press the ‘Select’ dial to the ‘1Cup’ to reprogram the ‘1Cup’ button or ‘2Cup’ to reprogram the ‘2Cup’ button. Press the ‘Select’ dial to start the espresso extraction. When your required expresso volume / duration has been extracted, press the ‘Select’ dial to stop the extraction.
4. The machine will beep once to confirm the new volume / duration.
How to adjust the shot temperature (00:55):
1. Select ‘Shot Temp’ from the menu screen. It will now be displayed on the LCD screen.
2. Press the ‘Select’ dial and the current temperature will flash on screen. Turn the dial to the required temperature and press the ‘Select’ button to set.
3. The machine will beep once to confirm the new temperature.
While we recommend 93C, just like a commercial machine different beans might require different brew temperatures to extract their full flavour.
