In truth, it’s a badge of honor. 00:00 whoa Felipe Toledo Jaime took every 00:05 single wave the whole day it's pretty 00:07 sure you got every single wave 00:12 [Applause] 00:14 [Music] 00:17 hi my name is Jamie O'Brien we're here 00:19 on the North Shore of Oahu and I'm gonna 00:22 be interviewing a few surfers today 00:24 about pipeline and their experiences 00:26 pipeline is a wave that makes and breaks 00:29 careers 00:30 this is adventures from the line up with 00:32 G I'm really excited to have you here I 00:39 really want to ask you a couple of your 00:42 personal favorite moments at pipeline or 00:44 back door you know the heat against 00:46 Michelle 00:47 pretty good waves and I got a 10 he's 00:51 gonna swing for it pulls in immediately 00:54 and it's a wide open pit effect or a big 00:56 section debate oh my goodness when you 01:01 came out of this ten point ride did you 01:04 hear the beach are up oh yeah 01:07 oh yeah for sure the beach was packed 01:09 was a beautiful day he knows a lot of 01:10 people and it was just the same feeling 01:12 as if you you know when I'm surfing in 01:13 Brazil that crowds just like amazing and 01:16 super loud so I was crazy 01:19 one day we were coming back from Halawa 01:21 just before dark and they were surf was 01:23 pretty average and big but it turned 01:25 like on offshore right at the end of the 01:28 day I took my boat like paddled in like 01:29 right behind us my first wave I got like 01:32 a heavy wipeout so I thought of coming 01:34 back in and I was like wait a minute 01:36 like get back out there and try to make 01:38 one and the second one was actually one 01:40 of my best barrel ever hear it was in a 01:43 contest and I was lucky enough to make 01:46 every single here until the final so 01:48 that was five years of 20 minutes so 01:51 with three other people like you guess 01:53 you don't see that at pipeline when 01:55 there's ways to survive line with three 01:58 people out is just unheard of so when 02:00 you get to do it in the contest and you 02:01 keep making the heat it's like a treat 02:03 every time I think my most recent 02:05 experience was with you mother's last 02:08 well Jamie took every single wave the 02:11 whole day he bulldogged me and Nate so 02:14 hard you got like the five best waves of 02:18 the day okay I really I I went back and 02:22 watch the footage and you guys weren't 02:23 ven paddling for the way 02:24 so great now Hickey in our face like 02:28 like I'm going groans Galloway Wow it 02:32 was actually on Christmas Day was with 02:33 my best friend boomer I was 12 or 13 02:36 years old it was my first wave I ever 02:38 had at backdoor and I got a barrel it 02:41 wasn't the best barrel or craziest 02:42 barrel but I'd never been barreled on a 02:44 reef fake before no absolutely it was 02:47 suck this big accolade that I thought I 02:50 had accomplished and I do remember one 02:51 shot that always sticks in my mind I 02:53 love it it's a shot of Jamie sterling 02:55 yeah and was from one of those old pipe 02:57 contests and I remembered swimming out 02:59 and I got out pretty easy actually and 03:00 this wave came in and I got it like the 03:03 first three minutes I was out in the 03:04 water just amazing thick lip look more 03:07 like Teahupoo than pipeline and all I 03:10 remember was after that for the next 03:11 three or four hours I just got blasted 03:13 just like got caught inside beaten like 03:16 just it was so gnarly other than that 03:18 that day and I swear to God I didn't get 03:20 a photo even close to that shot so in 03:22 hindsight I always looked back and go 03:23 man I should have got that shot and swam 03:26 the heck out of there and called it a 03:28 day thanks for tuning in to adventures 03:31 from the lineup 03:33 [Music] - advertisement spot 2019
