Hyundai's latest commercial for the hyundai ioniq 5 showcases the car's unmatched performance
Thanks to a bit of 1980s eight-bit design and some genuinely impressive new-age electrification, the modern Ioniq 5 dazzles as a fast-charging SUV with excellent range. The Ioniq 5 is one of the first electric vehicles to make our list of the top 10 trucks and SUVs. The lineup ranges from the 168-horsepower single-engine rear-wheel-drive Ioniq 5 with an EPA-estimated range of 220 miles to the 320-horsepower twin-engine all-wheel-drive 266 miles with an estimated 220 miles of range. The long-range rear-wheel-drive single-engine model with a range of 303 miles is one of the longest-range electric vehicles currently available for under $60,000. However, its 350kW DC fast-charging capability is the real hero, charging as fast as more expensive and luxurious EVs like the Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air. There's plenty of room inside the Ioniq 5, with more room for rear passengers than the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Volkswagen ID.4. With its wide price range and availability, the Ioniq 5 is a compelling option for anyone taking the first steps towards owning an electric vehicle.
This rare combination of practicality and original design in a car built for the masses is why we named the Hyundai Ioniq 5 Car of the Year. While the Ioniq 5 exudes ultra-compact styling, it's actually longer than a modern Palisade SUV, meaning there's plenty of trunk room, legroom, and headroom for all passengers. It's remarkably quiet, even at high speeds, and has impeccable build quality and driver-assistance tech usually reserved for pricier cars. It's not a luxury car, though. The Ioniq 5 represents clean design and simplicity, not opulence in a world where many cars seem to have gone through maximum-committee design machines. It feels just right.
The ioniq 5 was officially unveiled at the 2017 new york auto show
The Ioniq 5 will be unveiled at the Auto Expo in India in January 2023. This is Hyundai's second electric car to offer in India after the Kona Electric, which has been available in the country since 2019. The Indian model assembled in the country is powered only by a 72.6 kWh battery with 160 kW (218 hp; 215 hp) and rear-wheel drive.
The Ioniq 5 launches globally on February 23, 2021. Its design was showcased by the Hyundai 45 EV concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019. Both the concept car and the production version are inspired by the modern Pony, with parametric pixelated headlights, taillights and wheels. The vehicle's flap-style hood extends the full width, and the aerodynamic 20-inch wheels complete the look. "45" describes both the 45th anniversary of the pony coupe and the prominent 45-degree angles on the sides of the concept car. At the time, Hyundai called the design language "Sensual Sport" and described the front and rear lights as "kinetic cubes."
The commercial is directed by ridley scott and features international stars such as cate blanchett and kit harington
Barney Goldberg, executive creative director of Innocean, the agency that produced the ads, said the brand also aimed to "demystify" electric vehicles with the campaign. Two commercials for the campaign will be televised during the NFL's AFC and NFC championship games on Sunday.
The ad features a 60-second spot for the brand's Ioniq 5 EV crossover, with actor Jason Bateman appearing at various points in the story. He went from sitting still like a caveman to speeding around in the Ioniq 5.
