VIDEO Desigual Sailor Capsule SS18 TV commercial 2018 • AN ODE TO SAILOR STRIPES The frenetic History of stripes is as revolutionary as it is current. Coming typically from marines’ wardrobe, it was brought into day to day fashion by French brands, offering to the classic Parisian lady from the 1920s a total look with stripes, pearls and brooch. Adapted later on by the “Nouvelle Vague” and all those artistes – including Picasso –they converted the “striped T-shirt” into an exquisite symbol of purity and “savoir-faire”. In Desigual, a Mediterranean House where we all look at the sea every day, we decided to reinvent this classical print in all its possible forms, conditions and materials to create 100% marine and stripes looks, with all the details that define us, though being completely in accordance with the “Sailor” History. From Navy styled Parkas with lateral aperture (a historical detail: marines could that way take off their jersey quicker) and raincoats with naval coats details, we decided to tell a story about the sea, about a real marine but in a Desigual way.
