Discover more: https://www.dior.com/en_int/fashion/m... #DiorMenFall #DiorSavoirFaire 0:02 For the Fall 24, 0:03 Kim was very keen to keep alive 0:05 the continuation of traditional couture techniques, 0:08 so we looked at some archival references, 0:11 the first being “Pépite” from 1952. 0:15 The “Pépite” dress from the “Profilée” line 0:17 is particularly interesting for embroidery. 0:20 Monsieur Dior refers to it in the press release: 0:23 “A very special relief, different kinds of embroidery, 0:26 including couture braids”. 0:27 Here you go, 0:28 it’s an embroidery that’s done vertically, 0:30 to give a slightly elongated effect. 0:31 There are these little curved sequins 0:34 with these little spheres of transparent glass. 0:37 There's a very light, airy feel to it. 0:40 We developed the Lunéville’s crochet technique 0:44 to make all the sequins in a river, 0:46 with the faceted balls structuring the stripe, 0:50 and then, inside, there are bullion stitches. 0:53 A thread is passed through, 0:55 forming a sort of bridge, and is then completely encircled 1:00 and covered with Lurex thread for added shine. 1:05 This embroidery on a very delicate organza base 1:09 in this deep V-shaped shirt, 1:12 with these tiny little, quite delicate knots. 1:16 And the knots are a theme 1:17 that we see running through the collection. 1:20 We also have another embroidery, 1:22 which is from a dress called “Jazz”, 1:24 and that's much more textural. 1:26 “Jazz” from the Spring-Summer 1958 collection 1:28 by Yves Saint Laurent for Christian Dior, 1:29 is embroidered on silk tulle. 1:31 This embroidery features two techniques: 1:33 misty sequins and laminated metallic threads put together. 1:37 The misty sequin technique hides the sequins 1:42 under metallic threads called laminette. 1:45 This technique dates back to the Middle Ages. 1:47 It was invented in Burgundy in the 14th century. 1:50 We worked with two colors. 1:52 The first is gray with silver, 1:55 and a kind of curly stitch embroidery, 1:57 which is a Turkish carpet stitch 2:00 that we don't cut to keep the fur effect, 2:03 which is then highlighted with small sequins. 2:08 On the other piece, 2:09 we worked the curly stitch embroidery in black, 2:11 with brown tulle on top. 2:14 Layers of tulle create subtle shine, 2:18 a little like a trompe-l'oeil. 2:20 This embroidery is this idea of soft blossom 2:24 growing around the body, 2:27 and then a layer of tulle sitting over the top, 2:29 almost protecting these flowers.
