If you don't know how to fix the account picture error in Windows, here is a complete guide that will help you with that.

An Account image error warning stating, This problem could not be stored, may appear when you are trying to set up a new profile image for a local account. Possible causes of this problem include insufficient.NET frameworks or a damaged Account Pictures folder.

The problem could also arise if the picture you want to use is too big (more than 4 MB) or doesn't conform to certain standards (such as being in the PNG or JPG format). Make sure the image satisfies these criteria before trying the solutions.

1. Transfer the Picture to the Account Images Folder.

If the operating system doesn't want the pictures to be changed, they aren't. The Account Pictures folder in your user data is where Windows gets the local account picture. Go into the folder and place in there your avatar.png. Immediately this avatar.png should appear in Settings or the Control Panel when logging in, and it ought to be called after your username. Now, select a new image you want to make into your local profile photo by right-clicking on that image.

Once "Rename" is selected, type in the name of the image then your local account's name.

Copy the picture file, onto your desktop.

Alternatively, to get to the RUN dialog box, use the Windows key and the R key.

Click OK after you input appdata into the text box so that it opens the UserAppdata folder. Now, let's take a glimpse at the address bar at the top and it should be something like showing the account folder matching to the account that you logged in currently.

Go to: C:\\Users\\MicrosoftWindows Account Pictures.

Cut and paste the picture file which you have copied.

Turn Off your computer. Now you can access the Account Pictures folder and locate the image file.

2. Install Latest Windows Update If Windows

detects that a component required to save or show the local account photo is missing, then it may install it. Always remember to update Windows before trying any other options as regular updates fix bugs which solve many Windows issues.

To open Windows Search, press the Windows key along with the S key.

Type "Check for updates" and press Enter to access Windows Update settings.

Click on the "Check for updates" button to install, if any, updates are available.

Restart your computer as sometimes it may fix the problem.

3. Remove Everything from the Account Pictures Folder

If corrupted cached photos are the source of the issue, you will be able to repair them by clearing their contents from within the Account Pictures folder. This will forcibly refresh the data from the system after you change your profile picture.

Right-click on the Start menu to open the Run dialog box.

In the Run dialog box, type appdata and press the OK button.

You must navigate to the

RoamingMicrosoftWindowsAccountPictures directory.

Here, press Ctrl + A to select all photos and then delete them.

If you've tried changing your profile picture and restarting your computer already, do it again.

4. Create an Account for the First Time

If you want to save your local profile image but cannot because the files associated with your current account have become corrupted, you can create a new account, and all the required files are created. This may resolve the issue by ensuring that you have new user account files free from errors.

To access Windows Settings, press the Windows key plus the icon.

Press on Other Users in the Accounts section of the left sidebar.

I don't have the login details for this user; click the Add Account button.

Choosing "Add a user without a Microsoft Account" is the way to go.

To access the local account, type in the login credentials. For those who would rather not use a password, that box can be left blank.

To finalize the account creation, click Next.

We certainly hope that with this you can solve the account image error in Windows in a simple way, without further ado we say goodbye, goodbye.
