To learn how to complete The Profane and the Lost in Dragon Age The Veilguard here is a step-by-step guide.

Part of Davrin's Dragon Age: The Veilguard narrative arc, "The Profane and the Lost" is the final major mission. With information regarding the Gloom Howler's whereabouts, there was little waste of time as the Veilguard set out to free the captured griffons.

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this quest becomes available at the very end of the game. Besides completing all of the previous companion quests for Davrin, you need to have freed the Dalish elves in Arlathan Forest who were taken captive by the elf gods. You can start the quest, provided it activates, in Grey Hold in the Hossberg Wetlands.

All Items from The Profane and the Lost

Lotus Cave is a special location in Deep Roads where "The Profane and the Lost" kicks off. There are a few writings by Warden Jenryx that you can find around the quest area. There is no actual reward for reading these writings, but doing so provides insight into the fate of the numerous Wardens who stumble upon this place by accident.

Just before the starting point, you'll see a pit containing the first note from Jenryx.

Ride the elevator to face your next enemy, Na-Than, the Blighted Warden. Defeat him to get a rune from his body.

You will be able to see a memento in the south of the table within Na-Than's room. Place another message of Jenryx next to the memento.

Head down the broken coastline. Make a left onto the dock and up to the wooden platform, following the second battle with corrupted Wardens and darkspawn. On this plinth sits a small chest containing the third Jenryx note.

Once the fight is complete in the Profane City Approach, locate the small chest in the western corner of the arena. This is an arena containing two ballistas.

Head up onto the platform by way of the east ballista. It terminates at a giant chest that leans against the northeast wall.

After making your way down a lit doorway, turn past the standard door to a large chest.

Next up in this room are the consequences of your decision regarding the First Warden in Weisshaupt.

First we have Warden Jowin. He will always have blemishes, but if you reason with him, he can be useful or if you try to punch him, useless.

On a barrel beside the entrance to the chamber of the First Warden, you can find a memento.

On the right-hand side of the exit is a shelf with an investigation place.

The next Jenryx note is behind the investigation shelf, on a cot.

There's a small chest near the gates in the back of the room.

On the north wall is a table with candles on it, where you can find a Codex item.

There's an unstable blight bridge beyond this room's exit; it'll collapse the second you step on it. By the time you descend into the Darkspawn Dungeons, there are two things you should know that are key to your progress. For one, there are certain boils in the dungeons that will spawn low-level darkspawn until you kill them. Second, blight apertures always seal up behind you as you pass through them. Because of this, running too far ahead can lead to missing the Dungeons collectibles.

Head into the final room on the left side of the Darkspawn Dungeons to find a Memento attached to the wall in the first real room.

Continue straight forward after making a left turn past the second blight opening. Behind the blight boil is a large chest.

To get to Garahel's Point, you need to leave the Darkspawn Dungeons. Apply Blight Hunter on the abscess on the wall to your left. When the blight boil is open, burst it to progress. Once at the top of the ladder, turn left to find a large chest.

To the right of the ladder is a huge arena filled with darkspawn. In addition to defeating them, you'll also need to destroy three blight boils to unlock the path forward. Until you kill them, ghouls will keep popping out of these boils.

Once you've killed the last darkspawn, a chest containing a valuable item will be dropped.

Near the northern end of the north wooden walkway is a Jenryx note, and at the northern tip is a small chest.

A small chest can be seen along the northwest side of the arena, but it is never retrieved in the movie.

As soon as you enter the blight opening, the boss fight against Isseya, the Gloom Howler, starts.

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Taash undertakes the quest "Lair of the Dragon King," but her mother has in store for her far more than she bargained for.

Isseya the Dark Howler Conquering Strategies

There are a few puzzle pieces in the boss fight with Isseya. When you first encounter her, she is shielded by an impenetrable shield. You need to kill the blight growths underneath her for it to dissipate. You can do this by destroying three blight boils situated in various parts of the arena. Once you remove all obstacles, Isseya will engage in direct combat with you.

Throughout the fight, you will also be attacked by corrupted Wardens and darkspawn. Blight boils and other growths continue to spawn unlimited amounts of ghouls as before. The best combat strategy is to ignore the ghouls, kill the tough darkspawn and the Wardens, and then destroy the blight boils.

Isseya Attacks

Isseya has several attack options early in the fight:

She can create blight growths along a horizontal line, which remain for a few seconds.

She can shoot a line of blight growths at your exact location.

She can create two successive circles of blight growths centered on your position.

She can create a much larger explosion that is focused on your location and rain explosions on random spots in the arena.

She can teleport away and then back in at will, instantly casting a pool of blight where she is standing.

When Isseya reaches less than 3/4 health she will teleport to the end of the arena, where she'll stand on top of the wall of blight. Again you must remove the growths that are protecting her. Isseya has a line of growths under her and three boils on the arena floor. Isseya will come back into the field after destroying them all, even though her barrier has fully restored. On this second stage, Isseya can direct two curved beams of blight toward your current position.

The moment her health falls under 50%, Isseya will retreat. The last arena requires you to kill four blight boils and the growths underneath her when the blight walls have been destroyed. Isseya doesn't have any problems during this fourth phase, but her barrier pops back up. There will be a decision for you once she's defeated.

How Should the Griffons Be Treated?

The griffons had protected nature from many forms of exploitation and perils that were unnatural before the Grey Wardens. Now, upon their return, Davrin has to decide whether the griffons rejoin the Wardens or become environmental protectors with the task of keeping Arlathan Forest safe. The equipment and abilities that Davrin receives as a Veilguard Hero depend on your choice.

If the Griffons survive to rejoin the Grey Wardens, Daverin will be awarded the legendary armor Grey Benefactor. Wearing and including it in the active party will increase the fire damage Detonations deal against an affected by 25% for every stack of Burning.

Defender is a Veilguard spell, and he gets it. In this case, the Assan abilities (Assan Strike, Death from Above) apply Deflect to Rook and 25% shorter cooldown.

Among the mission rewards, there is +100 Strength for Grey Wardens.

Evka teaches the griffons in Hossberg Wetlands.

Daverin gets the well-known Wildwood Benefactor armor if the Griffons become protectors of nature. Whenever a Staggered foe is detonated, all affected enemies are stunned, and the enemies in the explosion radius are also stunned for an extra 10%.

He turns into a Battlemaster which is a Veilguard skill, by using it on Rook Assan abilities increase damage done by 25% and give Precision.

As a reward for the task, the Veil Jumpers gain +100 Strength.

Eldrin starts training the griffons in Arlathan Forest.

And with that, we conclude for today; we wish you the best of luck and success until next time.
