How to Complete A Growing Corruption in Dragon Age The Veilguard

Stories within the Dragon Age series have always been about making tough choices. Just like in previous Dragon Age games, the mayor of D'Meta's Crossing-a man who lost his village to the blight-is a major character in one of the early choices of The Veilguard.

You find him in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, held by the blight he helped unleash. Your current companions will also be affected by your choice to save or leave him to his predicament. Leaving him will also open up the side quest "A Growing Corruption."

How to Find Blight Boils

After the Siege of Weisshaupt, you'll arrive at Arlathan Forest and encounter three map exclamation marks. You can start "A Growing Corruption." by investigating all three locations and interacting with what's inside, but the one closest to the Veil Jumpers' base makes the most sense.

The first location has a large blight growth, which is protected by a single boil. The boil seems dark from the front, but you can see the glowing part if you circle around to the other side. Its destruction allows you to partially remove the blight growth and explore the remains, finding a corpse hidden within.

The second blight growth is down the path of blood and blight the quest marker will lead you on. A few darkspawn are lurking around it, but they are little threat. In order to find this growth you need to destroy a blight boil on the west wall and a ground boil on the south side. Investigate the hidden corpse to continue.

The third is on the beach near the Ancient Aqueduct. Once you have killed a few more ghouls you can destroy the growths glowing boils. A third body can be accessed through a broken growth if you've destroyed enough.

Depressed Mayor Walkthrough

Although it doesn't matter the order you do them in, as there are three blight growths, you'll come across a fourth corpse near the Riverside Ruins. This one's in a pool of blight, and there's no blight growths nearby. If you examine it, you'll be attacked by the Blighted Mayor on the spot.

One level 37 Greater Hurlock is the Blighted Mayor. He has the Colossal and Frenzy traits, and like all darkspawn, he is vulnerable to fire damage, but resistant to necrotic damage. To support the mayor, a hurlock spiker and several ghouls will appear.

When he does, two blight boils pop up; pay attention to those. They will continue to respawn until you've killed all of the zombies.

Remember that armor takes more damage from heavy hits.

All of the Blighted Mayor's attacks are melee attacks. You should have no problem hitting him if you bring a fighting friend to divert his attention.

Once you kill the Mayor, the quest is done. Receive 160 experience points, 200 gold, 5 Vhenadahl's tears, +50 grey guardians' strength and +50 veil jumpers' strength as rewards.
