How to Fix Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Keeps Disconnecting

Most of the time, if the Ethernet controller has trouble sustaining a proper connection, the network driver will disconnect them, and you may not have internet access for the time being. Power management features that are designed to save energy actually may be causing this problem by interrupting continuous connections.

1. Configure the Properties of Realtek Driver

This problem can be effectively solved by configuring the power options of the Realtek drivers to not power save.

There are three settings that you should change:

These settings reduce power consumption and internet speed in cases of low network usage. You can ensure that the network driver operates free of interference by disabling these settings.

Open up Device Manager by pressing the Windows key and typing the command.

Press the Enter key to open Device Manager.

Locate the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller driver by expanding the Network Adapters section and right-clicking on it.

Go to the Advanced tab after selecting Properties.

To change the Auto Disable Gigabit setting to "Relink Battery or AC," go to the Property menu and find it.

As a further step, disable Green Ethernet and Energy Efficient Ethernet by clicking on their respective options.

Once you are finished, click OK, saving your changes, and then see if this resolves the issue. 

2. Download the Driver from the Official Realtek Website.

If your Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller suddenly stops working and you lose internet connectivity, this could be due to using drivers that are not compatible with your device. If Windows Update installed your current network driver, then it is highly recommended that you visit the official Realtek website to get a compatible driver.

Update your network driver to the most recent version by visiting Realtek's official website. Finding the appropriate driver might also be as simple as visiting the website of your motherboard's maker.

3.Turn Off Energy-Saving Features

To prevent the Realtek network adapter from going into power-saving mode and thus causing connectivity issues, disable the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" setting.

Right-click on the Start menu to locate Device Manager.

Locate the Realtek network adapter by expanding the section on network adapters and right-clicking on it.

Access the Power Management tab by selecting Properties.

To save power, uncheck the box next to 'Allow the computer to turn off this device' and then click 'OK'.

Then it should not uninstall itself anymore.

4. Reset your network configuration.

Other reasons that may cause the Network driver to disconnect could be your network settings, like DNS settings being configured incorrectly. You can reset your network settings now to ensure there aren't any incorrect configurations causing this issue.

To open Windows Search, press Win + S keys simultaneously.

Type "Network Reset" in the settings and press Enter.

Click the "Reset Now" button to start. Ensure the driver is still uninstalling even after the system has been restarted.

5: Check for Hardware and Ethernet Cable Fault

The driver of the network can unplug due to a number of issues like a faulty network adapter, an imperfect Ethernet cable, or some problem with the router. You can find the broken part by taking it apart and putting it back together again.
