What does the GO Safari Ball do in Pokémon Go?

The GO Safari Ball is a special event-exclusive Poké Ball in Pokémon Go with a higher catch rate than any other Poké Ball outside of the Master Ball - a guaranteed catch. Think of the GO Safari Ball as a better Ultra Ball.

This makes the Poké Ball great for catching new Powerful Pokémon or even using them against Glarian Birds when you use your Daily Incense if you're lucky enough to find one.

What's frustrating, though, is that any Pokémon caught using a GO Safari Ball is stuck in Pokémon Go for all eternity, as you can't transfer any Pokémon caught in a GO Safari Ball to Pokémon Home to use in other games.

How to Get the GO Safari Ball in Pokémon Go

There are two ways to get more Safari Balls during the Wild Area event in Pokémon Go. The first way is available to all players: by spinning PokéStops and Gym Dials during the event. You'll want to explore your local area to find new ones to spin, which will increase your chances of getting them. These rewards aren't guaranteed, though. If you purchase the Wild Area Safari Ball Extra Access from the website every hour from 10 a.m. m. to 6:15 p.m. m. In your local area, you'll receive Timed Research with quick tasks that reward Safari Balls.

All players can earn more Safari Balls during the event, but it all depends on exploring, spinning Poké Stops or Gyms, and walking around the place. The additional-access Safari Ball ticket is your best bet if you're using it to catch more powerful Pokémon. The downside to buying this ticket, however, is that it's separate from the standard Wild Area event ticket, and the hourly Timed Research tasks expire at the end of the hour. You won't receive anything if you don't redeem these tasks.

It can be easy to miss out on these rewards if you're not quick. You'll want to stay on top of and focused on the Pokémon Go Wild Area event from 10 a.m. m. to 6:15 p.m. m. in your local area on November 23-24. Once the event concludes, you can dump all the Pokémon you caught during the event and rest up.

You'll also want to use up any Safari Balls you get during the event. These items expire from your inventory when the event ends, and you can't use them later.

If you don't plan on focusing on catching Powerful Pokémon, or they're not a big priority, earning more Safari Balls and purchasing them shouldn't be a priority. Instead, focus on the main event and how to make the most of the Wild Area.
