Today in our guide we show you How to fix Rocket League error 71 in a simple way.

Error 71 in Rocket League usually causes a notice to pop up that says something like "connection timed out" when you're trying to join a match. This happens because you disconnected from the game servers either because of a network problem or because the servers went down.

Problem with Rocket League Connection (Error: 71)

The most frequent reasons include server downtime, slow network connections, and using an older version of the game. The problem at times may be caused by other factors, including firewall blocks, antivirus interference, and corrupted game cache files.

This article covers various techniques in rectifying this error.

1 Identify if It's a Server Issue

Before trying to apply some elaborate solutions, make sure the servers of Rocket League are up and running. If you have connectivity problems like Error 71 when the servers are down for maintenance or otherwise unavailable, you will simply have to wait for them to go live again.

First of all, check about server status on Xbox One or PS4 if you are using a console to find out about the problem.

If you use a personal computer and still cannot manage, you can observe if anybody else is having problems by following the official Twitter account.

2. Turn Router Off and On Again

If you're having temporary network problems that prevent you from connecting to Rocket League's servers, try restarting your router. To resolve connection problems, IP conflicts, or Error 71, power cycle your device to restart your internet connection; this should resolve most of the aforementioned problems.

Simply disconnecting the power cord or pressing the On/Off button on the rear of your router will turn it off and reset it. Before turning back on your networking device, wait 30 seconds to be sure the capacitors have drained.

You can restart your modem or router.

3. redirect Rocket League's ports.

You will have to unblock some ports if you want your network to connect reliably and directly to the Rocket League servers. This is a rule that bypasses limitations that might be hurting or halting communication, making data flow smoother and decreasing the probabilities of timeouts or connectivity issues.

Just enter the IP address of your router into your browser's address bar to access its settings. Both 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 are common default IP addresses.Optimizing your router's configuration

Important: If none of these works, you will have to look for the unique IP address of your router online.

Once you have accessed the address of your router, you should type in your login information. The most common default credentials are "admin" and "1234".

If these do not work, be sure to check the router's default credentials.

Find the NAT Forwarding or Port Forwarding option in your router's Advanced menu. Once you have found it, click on Virtual Server, or VS, and then forward the ports used by Rocket League:Rocket League for Steam - TCP: 27015–27030, 27036–27037 UDP: 4380, 27000–27031, 27036 Transport Control Protocol - TCP: 1935,3478-3480 UDP: 3074,3478-3479 Rocket League on PlayStation 4 Rocket League on Xbox One: TCP: 3074 88,500, 3074, 3544, 4500 UDP Rocket League - Switch port number: 1-65535 UDP, TCP: 6667,12400,28910,29900,29901, 29920

Note: The needed ports will be dependent on the platform you are using.

If the problem still continues after you have forwarded all the ports needed, try to restart your network and computer.

4.Update the firmware of the router.

With a firmware update, you can improve the performance of your router and fix those old faults that might disrupt communication between the game servers. This will help in maintaining steady your connection and reducing the chances of receiving Error 71.

The firmware update procedure for your router is specific to the type it belongs to.

Refreshing the Firmware on the Router

Note: If you are not technical, seek assistance from a network professional or consider upgrading to a newer model.

The upgrade procedure for a router's firmware sometimes differs between manufacturers. Some recommend manual upgrades, while others recommend the use of tools.
