Here we leave you a complete guide so you can learn How to remove a specific device from the list Safely remove hardware in Windows.

The user may see it in the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" menu in the system tray for USB sound cards, USB network adapters, Type-C displays, removable media such as SATA/SSD drives, USB sound cards, and even mice that don't actually need to be removed. Want to remove that device from the "Safely Remove" list of devices in Windows 11 or 10? Here is how.

Safely Remove Hardware List in Windows 11/Windows 10: Remove a Specific Item

You can open the Device Manager by using the Win + R hotkey, typing devmgmt.msc, and pressing Enter.

Highlight your USB adapter - mine is TP-Link Wireless USB Adapter - that you want to hide, right click on it and then Properties.

Under the Details tab find the device identifier - for my example, it is USBVEN_10DE&DEV_2486&SUBSYS_147A10DE&REV_A1 - right click on it and copy the string.

Open the Registry Editor using Win + R, typing regedit, and then pressing Enter. Now follow the path below:

ENUM USB HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet

Find the device-specific key and open it. Here, if present you might have the Capabilities parameter; assign the value 60 (Hex) to it. If the device key contains the nested subkeys, this procedure must be repeated for each of them. Well, after that the device will not appear in the Safely Remove Hardware section anymore.

Using the Scheduled Task for Removal

The default value of Capabilities in the registry may be restored after reboot. Create an auto-start job that should modify the registry automatically in such a way that the device would remain hidden.

Open Task Scheduler via command line with taskschd.msc or alternatively provide the path to your device's registry key:

This will add a new registry entry "Remove_TPLinkUSBAdapter_Safe_Removal" and the following key into the registry "reg.exe add 'HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumUSBVID_2357&PID_010C0E04C0001' /v Capabilities /t reg_dword /d 0x00000060 /f" to the registry.

With this option make sure that a certain device is always hidden from a Safely Remove Hardware list after each computer restart.

Saying this, and without further ado, goodbye, and we hope that with this you can safely and efficiently remove a device that is on the Remove hardware list.
