Today we will be talking about How to run as administrator appears in gray in Windows 11.

Sometimes, we want to run some programs on our system as an administrator. For this purpose, we right-click an application and click on "Run as Administrator" from the context menu. Unfortunately, this option gets grayed out, and hence users can't avail this option. This tutorial will help you run programs as administrator in case this option is grayed out on your computer. Just follow the steps described in this article.

By default, Windows 11 hides the "Run as Administrator"

If the greyed-out Run as Administrator option is not available on your Windows 11 or 10 machine, follow the steps below.

Add everyone to the group.

Search for alternative ways to run the application as an administrator.

Then create a shortcut to the application.

Turn off the UAC and enable it.

Run SFC to fix system image files.

Create the account for the role administrator.

Turn off your computer

In detail, all these repairs are explained as follows:

1. Give privileges to everyone as a user.

First try running the application as an administrator by making Everyone a new user. Giving privileges to everyone as a user is as simple as performing the following steps:

Right-click the exe file and get the properties of the program.

Its permissions can be edited by choosing the Security tab and then clicking the Edit button.

Type "Everyone" and then click the Add button.

After that, click OK after clicking the Check Names button.

Select the "Everyone" user and grant them full control.

After that, click OK after clicking Apply.

Now check to see if you are given the option to run it with administrative privileges.

2. Innovative ways to try to run the program as an administrator.

You may get other options to launch the application as an administrator. There are several ways to start a program as an administrator. Here I have elaborated on some of these methods.

Open Run command window and here you have to paste the name of an executable file of the program. If you want to open Chrome then you should type chrome.exe. Now hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. You can also do this via the Task Manager: Open Task Manager, click on the top menu Run to initiate a new task. You need to enter the name of the executable file now, say, chrome.exe. Click OK before proceeding; make sure you have admin privileges to create the task.

Alternatively, run the program as administrator using an external tool like RunAsTool.

3.add a shortcut and use it to start the app

If you no longer see the Run as Administrator option in some programs' Compatibility tab, create a shortcut for the program and see if its effects bring the option to the surface. Once you have created the shortcut, right-click on it and select Properties from the context menu. When in the Shortcut tab, find the Advanced button and click on it. Check the box next to the "Run as administrator" option and click OK. Each time you open the application using that shortcut, the software will open with elevated rights.

4.to toggle the UAC on/off.

See if it helps by trying to disable and then re-enable the UAC. You will find an enable/disable option for UAC in the Control Panel.

5. Get system image files fixed.

Another probable cause for this error is because of corrupted system image files. If that doesn't work, fix your system image files.

Run the System File Checker and DISM programs successively and run the respective commands to repair the corrupt system files.

6. Create a new account and assign it the role of administrator.

Your present administrator account might be problematic. It might have corrupted. Create a new Administrator account and see if that solves the issue. You can continue using the new Administrator account if it doesn't face the issue.

Find the solution to Windows' Run as administrator button that is not working.

7. Power off your computer.

As the last resort, you can restore your computer to the default settings that it came with from the factory if none of the above options work. To reset the PC and keep files, click the "Keep my files" option. Make this option active to do the reset without erasing any data.

HINT: You can make the program run as administrator, by default, through properties adjustments, too.

Surely, we hope this will help you out in this regard, and all the very best of luck.
