The Vessel of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4 brings new story quests, missions, and a playable area, but the biggest and most entertaining addition to the game is the Spiritborn class.
Spiritborn is considered a versatile class in Diablo 4 with many different viable builds due to the Spirit Guardians' class dominance. Each of the Spirit Guardians offers a fun way to play, but our leveling build will be perfect for leveling up to 60 and letting the real fun begin.
Here's how to master Spiritborn as you level up to level 60 in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred.
Spiritborn Leveling Build Guide for Diablo 4
This leveling guide for Spiritborn focuses on the Eagle Spirit Guardian, fast movement, making enemies vulnerable, and constantly using their Evasion to move around the battlefield while also dealing damage. Vortex pulls enemies in close for follow-up attacks like Concussive Stomp and The Seeker for high damage, while Soar is used to escape or close the gap, and Armored Hide is for defense.
Core Abilities Thunderspike (5/5) – Enhanced, Sharp
This build focuses on Thunderspike and its ability to upgrade the cooldown of Evasion, with the Enhanced and Sharp upgrades increasing damage and generating Vigor. The general idea here is to combine your basic attack and Evasion with the Eagle Spirit in the Hall of Spirits to create massive damage output.
When using Eagle, every time you Evade, you will throw several Storm Feathers at enemies nearby. These are very powerful – they deal high damage and make targets vulnerable to taking even more damage.
And while this build doesn't use a lot of Spiritborn's resources, Vigor, the basic ability you use for your attack is crucial because it's the main way Spiritborn regenerates its main resource in Diablo 4.
Focus Skills Soar (1/5) – Enhanced, Replenishment
Your main movement ability, Soar, sends you flying through the sky for a long distance, which is both useful for avoiding enemy damage if your Evade is on cooldown, but also great for closing the gap and moving quickly through dungeons.
The cloud it creates will even make enemies vulnerable, meaning this is a great ability to use as you start your combat phase.
Vortex (1/5) – Enhanced, Measured
While it does deal some damage, Vortex is a crucial ability for pulling enemies towards you so you can knock them down with Thunderstrike or follow up with Concussive Stomp. It's also great to use The Seeker Ultimate and pull enemies in for a big burst of damage.
Defensive Skills Armored Hide (1/5) – Enhanced and Reinforced Concussive Stomp (1/5) – Enhanced and Reinforced
Concussive Stomp is a gorilla skill that will knock enemies down for three seconds, allowing you to follow up with more attacks while they can’t fight back in any way. With Enhanced Concussive Stomp, the 600 percent increase in damage to unstoppable enemies and bosses is key.
Armored Hide, meanwhile, is the only true defensive skill in the build. It increases survivability by making you unstoppable, increasing resolve, and adding 100 percent block chance for three seconds. Use it when you’re about to get hit by something big.
Ultimate Skill The Seeker (5/5) – Harmonious, Exalted
The Eagle Spirit Guardian’s ultimate attack should be used whenever you have it, which is why I chose to put five points into it. The Seeker has a great area effect, but it also makes enemies vulnerable, so you should continually attack while it's around.
The Seeker's first attack is small, but the second, when it takes off again and does high damage, is what you should focus on. I like to knock the Seeker down and then immediately use Vortex to draw enemies into the blue circle of death it forms so it can hit everyone with the second hit.
Passive Key Vital Strikes The entire build's focus on making enemies more vulnerable comes to fruition with Vital Strikes, which grants you the ability to deal a massive 45 damage boost to any enemy hit.
Additional Abilities Several other additional abilities can be added to help increase your Eagle mastery, including Brilliance and Acceleration, which directly enhance the Eagle's abilities. Here are a few we suggest, but feel free to get creative.
- Tracking
- Focal Point
- Apex
- Mirage
- Unrestrained Power
- Swift
- Patient Guard
- Auspicious
- Resilience
- Brilliance
- Acceleration
